Hello Dragonfly. This is turning into an Elizabeth Goudge appreciation. My books came from my great aunts when they died many years ago and I always read The Dean's Watch just before Christmas, it somehow makes me want to be a better person!
They also had all the Georgette Heyers and I've re-read them many times over the years.
I hope the bad times are behind you and send you very best wishes for a peaceful 2014.

My copy of LWH has come back to me, along with all my other Elizabeth Goudge books, having been pilfered by my eldest daughter over the years. It was her favourite. When she died my son-in-law gave me 'my' books back as I'd had them all from childhood. She'd also managed to relocate some of my Georgette Heyer books to her house too! The Child From the Sea is perhaps my favourite EG, and These Old Shades is the GH book we both loved most.

It's 50-odd years since I read anything by Elizabeth Goudge. As well as Georgette Heyer, she was serialised in the Woman's Journal which was my Mum's favourite and always passed on to me when she had devoured it. I still have my copy of The Little White Horse which I keep intending to pass on to my GD.

Welcome Dragonfly, I too love Elizabeth Goudge, The Dean's Watch is one of my favourites, but there is so much gentle wisdom in her writing that all of her books bring insight and solace.

Dragonfly I just looked at your profile; I bought "The Herb of Grace" to re read a few months ago. It used to be one of my favourite books. I haven't read any more by Elizabeth Goudge.

Hello newcomers! Enjoy. This is my first proper GN day since Boxing day. I have just had my family go home today after our late Christmas celebrations with my children. I usually cannot stay off this site for long. It is often funny and usually supportive if you are having an off day. A good place.
