Porridge is so wonderful isn't it? I have it almost every morning, all year round. Usually I add a bit of chopped banana and a sprinkle of dried fruit. Sometimes I vary it by adding a bit of leftovers, e.g. a spoonful of apple sauce, a bit of leftover fruit crumble, or some sweet mincemeat, even a bit of crumbled Christmas cake. For speed I usually have to cook it in the microwave but agree it's much tastier when done on the stove. I have fondest memories of my childhood, with my father putting it in the Rayburn (like an Aga) the night before and leaving it to cook slowly overnight - I can never get it to taste that good.
