Good morning all. Dry and calm at the moment in East Sussex. Just found out that my younger DD has won a knitting competition. Well done to her..

LizG Sun 19-Jan-14 07:38:13

Well done Brenda and good morning all. Oh I am so fed up with this weather, thank goodness for Gransnet sunshine

Kiora Sun 19-Jan-14 07:46:42

Morning Mick, well done your daughter Brenda. I feel the same Liz. Fingers crossed for a day without rain. I'd like a little breeze i'v got a machine full of washing to hang out

NfkDumpling Sun 19-Jan-14 07:51:50

Congratulations to Brenda s DD. It's good that knitting is becoming fashionable again - there's some fantastic yarns out there now.

Have a lovely day everyone. It looks like it's going to be a dank wet day here in the east.

Bez Sun 19-Jan-14 08:28:07

Good morning everyone - looking a damp day here today. Nice about the knitting Brenda!did she knit a garment or a square? I can remember as a child there were competitions where you knitted a square - later they were used to make patchwork blankets.

NfkDumpling Sun 19-Jan-14 08:31:44

Oh, gosh, I remember knitting those squares! I think I was about seven, maybe eight?

Morning all! Dull here in the East Midlands but as we are threatened with Sun later, DH and I are going for a walk by the river.

Enjoy you days everyone!

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jan-14 09:17:17

Mornin' all!
Coming up bright here. I should have a day of sorting things out before starting the week.
And I must wash my feet. I state this here to make me do it, because it has become a quite difficult operation.....why is the floor, and my feet, so far away?

Nonu Sun 19-Jan-14 09:37:19

Good morning to you all , another fun day starting !
Well our case NOT Mr N has a stinker of a cold so am dosing him up ,will make some nice turkey broth [left over carcass from Christmas],
hope not too early in the year to mention the C word. Keep him in the warm , he was going to chop down a tree but I am afraid that is verboten !!
Nice news about your DD Brenda
a smile to you all !

Nonu Sun 19-Jan-14 09:38:41

ALIE , don"t you be forgetting those feet , I will be checking !
grin

Brendawymms Sun 19-Jan-14 10:07:21

It was a very complicated sideways knitted sweater. Started at one cuff up the sleeve across the body and down the other sleeve. Lots of cabling etc. nightmare! grin.

Nelliemoser Sun 19-Jan-14 10:08:09

Good morning all! It's marmalade day for me. I am just printing off all your good marmalade advice.
if anyone finds me posting anywhere on GN before 3 pm PLEASE tell me to B*** off and get back to my cooking. grin

Nonu Sun 19-Jan-14 10:37:30

Good morning everyone, its quite a nice day today. DGD and ex SIL staying with us as its 6th birthday today. Worries over the birthday cake was unfounded as the cake itself went down a storm with kids and parents at the party. I really felt relief. Had a bit myself too, not bad.
Ribs still giving gip, pain killers blow my head off. Opiate drugs are not for me. confused

Yofab Sun 19-Jan-14 10:55:19

Snap Nellie. It's. Marmalade making day for me too

lefthanded Sun 19-Jan-14 11:15:49

Sunny here in South Wales but everyting still very wet after yesterday's torrential rain. Taking my father out to lunch today (and since I'm 63 you can imagine how old he is), as my brother who usually does his Sunday lunch is away for a few days.

Good morning everyone, I wasn't really awake all night thinking the roof was going to be blown off but this morning I feel like it. There are high white clouds today scudding across the sky and small patches of blue.

You all sound very energetic to me.

Thistle, I'm sorry you are still in so much pain. I can't take opiates either and paracetamol didn't help much. I think it was about three weeks before it started easing.

Anne58 Sun 19-Jan-14 11:44:18

Hello all.

I'm feeling pretty grin because I have just had my latest assignment back from my tutor, passed, and with no re-subs! (goodytwoshoesemoticon)

Galen Sun 19-Jan-14 11:49:43

Bright here but cloud over the welsh hills. Just seen a ketch go down the channel under full sail

kittylester Sun 19-Jan-14 11:50:03

Well done phoenix

Glad the cake went well Thistle

Welcome lefthanded if you are new - if you aren't I apologise brew I am also left-handed, as is one of my daughters and one of hers, too. smile

harrigran Sun 19-Jan-14 11:59:32

Good morning from a cold, wet north east. GC will have cabin fever and I have to be there this afternoon.

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jan-14 12:02:59

Done my feet!
Feet - and toenails - much improved. Found some 'softening creme bath' I forgot about because it won't fit in the bathroom cupboard, will use that again.
And i did a very clever thing....brought the washing basket down and popped my clean socks in it to bring down....put the whole lot in the machine.....

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jan-14 12:04:14

Good for you goody !
