Git your kilts, gird yer loins!
Chariots, claymores, bagpipes, haggis, whisky at the ready!
Virtual party at Balmoral tomorrow night .

Whose coming?

merlotgran Fri 24-Jan-14 23:29:25

Balmoral eh? Will Her Maj let us put the heating on?

I'll wear my thermals. What time does it all kick off?

Galen Fri 24-Jan-14 23:36:03

I don't think a small electric fire will do much, do you think we'd do better at Glams ? Sp or Castle of May? The laters a bit small but should accommodate us lot.

mey .com

Galen Fri 24-Jan-14 23:41:42

Knew I couldn't do links. Someone else please try

merlotgran Fri 24-Jan-14 23:45:28

Castle of Mey

I hope I'll have enough juice in my broomstick to get that far. grin

Galen Fri 24-Jan-14 23:59:44

Thanks. I think that'll be fine as a venue!
So far it's thee and me?
No more takers?

annodomini Sat 25-Jan-14 00:01:02

Why not Kirk Alloway? Where Tam o'Shanter saw the witches dancing.

Thistledoo Sat 25-Jan-14 10:05:11

Oh gosh my tartan frock is at the dry cleaners and the broomstick is in the garage getting its MOT done. Can anyone give me a lift, I will bring the haggis up my jumper. Oh is anyone prepared to address the Haggis.

Oldgreymare Sat 25-Jan-14 10:14:09

Castle of Mey it is then, we can hitch our 'transport' to the tree. After all if the QM had it renovated, we tax-payers probably footed the bill!
Do you think David Tennant (wearing a kilt of course) would do the reading/salutation/address?

Oldgreymare Sat 25-Jan-14 10:17:10

I shall borrow Charles' and Camilla's 4X4..... it has magic properties and knows the way..... I'll pick you up Thistledoo.

Anne58 Sat 25-Jan-14 10:18:54

I'd like to come, if I may? I love haggis and whisky is my favourite spirit!

Charleygirl Sat 25-Jan-14 10:23:45

I will not be coming, I do not feel well enough and I am sure that you do not want me transferring my bugs to everybody. I was cold at the last Balmoral party, I just hope that there is more than a one bar electric fire for you guys.

Pete's takings will be down this evening.

Brendawymms Sat 25-Jan-14 10:25:50

As long as there is a dram of single malt to go with the Haggis and neaps I will be there. Thermals at the ready. What time?

Soutra Sat 25-Jan-14 10:33:04

Count me in if David Tennant or Neil Oliver are anywhere near! The single malt has to be real andnot virtual however

Nonu Sat 25-Jan-14 10:42:04

I also will not be attending , cannot pass my germs on, would be racked with guilt !!
However, I will send a case of Decent whiskey for you all to enjoy !
ENJOY !

glammanana Sat 25-Jan-14 10:46:54

Not been invited to Castle Mey before now it will be an experience, so off to make sure 4 x 4 (top of the range) broomstick is all set to fire up and make the journey,Charleygirl don't worry about Pete's taking with us being virtual customers we can be in both locations at the same time, mind you that does mean double the drinkies doesn't it.Tatties & neaps the order if the kitchen to-day so best be getting started, anyone need a lift just let me know and I'll drop in and pick you up. x

Ariadne Sat 25-Jan-14 11:13:44

It would have to be "whisky" Nonu! With an "e" it is Irish. See what I have learned from being married to a Scot...

I have posted this elsewhere, but here is part of my "Reply to the lassies" at a Burns' night this week:

"For the bonnie flow'r of Scotland
Is one that never wilts.
And it makes a lassie say with pride --
"Down with trousers! Up with kilts!"

Interspersed with real Burns, of course.

Will try to attend but am still in recovery from the last one, and from the big "do" the night before that. Will send our lovely piper over?

Nonu Sat 25-Jan-14 11:19:33

Well , however it is spelt , you can bet your sweet bippy , the gang will get stuck in and have their share !! Never been backward at coming forward !!

Laugh & wink

merlotgran Sat 25-Jan-14 11:43:03

I'm an innocent abroad when it comes to Scotland and I've just realised how close the Castle of Mey is to John o' Groats. Do we have a gransnetter near to Lands End?? We could do a sponsored broomstick thingy.

I've fished my tartan rug out of the dog's basket and stuck it in the wash. Don't want to attract any of those snappy old Corgis.

glammanana Sat 25-Jan-14 12:25:53

merlot I've got a tartan cushion which I can use as a comfort cushion on my broomstick, also have a "tam o'shanter" type hat which would look fetching hmm "she goes scurring off to find it in the suitcase under the bed" grin

Galen Sat 25-Jan-14 13:13:30

Don't forget to wear your cutty sarks!
Do remember a nappy is not something you put on a baby.
And happy faces please. No silly sulken dames!

AlieOxon Sat 25-Jan-14 13:23:55

Hey that room up by the towers looks just the thing, and we can land on the roof!
AND - we will have it to ourselves, as it isn't open to the public until the 7th May...why no Burns night there, we could have gatecrashed...oh, maybe better not......

AlieOxon Sat 25-Jan-14 13:24:58

Galen....claymores? Dodgy.

annodomini Sat 25-Jan-14 13:32:52

weather forecast for Caithness tonight, remarkably mild and, what's more, dry. Have a good night, though no' a braw, bricht, moonlicht yin. I've been asked to go to the cinema with friends and - much as I love oor Rab...
