One day I will......

Inspired by something just heard on Radio 4, about James Joyce.

"One day I will read Ulysses" (There are probably lots of you that already have, but I haven't blush )

One day I will...... get the garden looking exactly as I want it to . It's been years now and it still isn't quite right. I know this is a very modest 'one day I will' but it's the only thing I can think of, trying to think in practical terms not wishful thinking[tours of Africa] or complete fantasy [climbing Everest.]

That's great as we now have secure storage - not sure what's stopping us really! Am looking forward to it already.

There is a sheep farmer locally, who lets out an area of land, close to his farmhouse for folks to store their mobile homes. He has several very snappy collies who act as deterrents for thieves. Good job someone can do spreadsheets, it isn't a skill I developed.

Good thought Iam. can we afford two and where will we store them when not in use? I can see this will take a lot more thinking about. Have to set up a spreadsheet.

Ok - virtual HGV's sound brilliant. Big question - will we need two winnebagos, one to be for those of us who will be taking our dogs along, and the other for the non dog people?

Good idea chloe a stopover in Belgium it is then ....chocolate ....... And I am sure there are other, better campsites in Italy. Actually once we got used to it and as I was able to use the disabled facilities, it was a fun campsite.

LizG Sun 02-Feb-14 17:55:35

For the big coach built versions yes Iam but as this is a virtual world I guess we could all pass our HGV tests with virtually no problems and get virtual licences very easily grin

One day I will...stop worrying I hope!

chloe1984 Sun 02-Feb-14 11:07:50

I'm sure we can manage to pass our HGV test!! OK my reverse and parallel parking is not so great but hey up for a challenge. What really worries me are the facilities having read your comment LizG . Also wondered if we could include a stopover in Belgium as I forgot about the chocolate that I will need(you can see what interests me most )However I will take my camera to record the sights and we will have to complete a blog that will no doubt attract millions of readers. Just need to decide what to call it.

Iam64 Sun 02-Feb-14 08:48:37

Oh, do you need an HGV licence LizG?

LizG Sat 01-Feb-14 23:33:41

I'm all for the Winnebago but do we have someone with an HGV licence to drive it. Showing off alert - I know of a lovely, unspoilt campsite on Lake Como, mind you the electrics were suspect and the toilets had two footsteps!! But the views, oh yes!

I agree about the northern mights. I do not travel well and have never had any hankering to see India, America or wherever; and I hate flying! But still I would like to see the northern lights. It will never happen, but, hey, one can dream.

Paige Sat 01-Feb-14 23:03:56

Someday I'll come visit you all! smile I wonder who I'll visit first? hmmXgrin

NfkDumpling Sat 01-Feb-14 22:39:38

One day I'll ride a camel - in a desert not a zoo. Wanted to ever since that bit in Lawrence of Arabia when Omar Sharif comes through the mirage.

Granny23 Sat 01-Feb-14 16:17:15

That should say 'slightly belated honeymoon' but hopefully you guessed that anyway. grin

Nonu Sat 01-Feb-14 15:16:32

One day , this blasted cold and chest infection will go !
Still Dd is coming round tomorrow to cook a nice lunch and we will then watch Downton Abby on DVD and the Boys can watch their footie !
So one day I will feel better , [oh happy day] !
smile

Am always happy to share so count me in on the gransnet Winnebago trip of a lifetime. Can we please ensure we visit Paris for my scandalous undies, then Italy for the pasta and perhaps Lake Coma so we can perhaps track down George Clooney in his villa. After that am happy to go wherever the fancy takes us.

Galen Sat 01-Feb-14 15:04:59

I doubt I'll ever get there!

Nonnie Sat 01-Feb-14 14:38:35

Galen When you are at Amritsar go the extra bit and watch the evening ceremony at the border between India and Pakistan, it is well worth watching . If you take your passport you go in the VIP area. Taj Mahal is even better than you expect.

Nonnie Sat 01-Feb-14 14:34:35

Katy many years ago we saw T TO in rep and it was so look boring!

It's "Trying to see" the northern lights I am afraid they cannot be summoned to order. It depends on the sun, unless they have a private hot line to heaven.

Iam64 Sat 01-Feb-14 13:46:54

Hey - what about a gransnet winnebago - I really wanted a mobile home in which to tour europe, but the cost of buying, maintaining, insuring etc was prohibitive. So - what about the great retirement gransnet winnebego> a bit like a time share I suppose.

Galen Sat 01-Feb-14 13:46:51

Brenda that's what I'm like all the time! It's very worrying!

KatyK Sat 01-Feb-14 12:57:54

One day I will -

get something published - anything
stop constantly worrying
accept myself as I am and not as I think I should be
be the same shape as I was in 1969 grin
