Charles again

I had to chuckle at Charles (arch tree-hugger and defender of unscientific alternative therapies) decrying those who reject the scientific evidence about humans' influence on global warming.

I bet he did.

When he fell off his horse and broke an arm I bet he didn't rely on homeopathy for post-op pain control.

Whatever you may think about Prince Charles, his visit to Somerset has kept the media's attention on the horrendous conditions in the Levels. As merlot has said, I don't hear anyone there complaining.

Mishap Wed 05-Feb-14 10:08:06

The thread was not intended to be about Somerset - I did not even know he had been there! I just heard something on Any Questions, and was slightly amused by the apparent contradiction in his views about scientific validity.

Ana Wed 05-Feb-14 10:01:13

absent, I realised I'd got that wrong, but only after I'd gone to bed!
I meant 'Consequences', of course.

merlotgran Wed 05-Feb-14 09:55:16

I remember somebody being castigated on here for hinting that Kirstie Allsopp might be a little er... well padded. That's nothing to absent's attack on Prince Charles who doesn't look at all bad for 65.

Has anyone in Somerset come out and said his visit was a waste of time?

Bellasnana Wed 05-Feb-14 09:46:11

Making nasty remarks about someone's appearance is not ok sad

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 05-Feb-14 09:44:27

Whoops! got a little bit confused there. Porridge not doing its work yet.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 05-Feb-14 09:43:43

jess could be right about the hairstyle

although he did vary it at one point

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 05-Feb-14 09:41:30

jess could be right about the hairstyle

But what do you do if it's the style that suits you?

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 05-Feb-14 09:36:30

I can't see ugliness in this face

Morning icy

annodomini Wed 05-Feb-14 09:36:16

If we're descending to the trivial, I'd say that Prince Charles has a hairCUT rather than a hair STYLE!

Ariadne Wed 05-Feb-14 09:36:14

Was it his money? Just wondering.

Icyalittle Wed 05-Feb-14 09:33:38

Morning, jings

Icyalittle Wed 05-Feb-14 09:33:01

I refuse to accept that someone's hairstyle defines his/her ability to do a job.

One advantage of his visit is keeping the Somerset Levels high on the news agenda (look! It's on here too!) with a slightly greater chance therefore of longer term action.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 05-Feb-14 09:30:47

Re absent's rather vicious attack on the man, I would never see Charles as being ugly. An intelligent face, and a warm smile.

BlueBelle Wed 05-Feb-14 09:19:34

oh come on Gilly it was an effort haven't seen anyone else offering anything eve their time give the bloke some credit

JessM Princess Annes hair has been the same for as long as shes been an adult too smile

gillybob Wed 05-Feb-14 08:44:37

Oh that £50,000 must have really broke the bank too (I don't think it was his personal money either) It's true what they say when it comes to charity those with the least to give always give the most.

D0LLIE Wed 05-Feb-14 08:41:12

poor man cant do right for doing wrong...at least he is showing an interest in whats happening and has offered £50,000 to help...

Marty Wed 05-Feb-14 08:08:21

I agree Pettallus. Prince Charles is an easy target. I admire him and always have. I think he is caring and sensible - and he has two smashing sons.

12Michael Wed 05-Feb-14 07:55:12

Mind you I admire him, for doing it would government ministers such as Cameron, Cleggy, or Osborne are 3 "last of the summer wine " MP`s do it.

Prince Charles is an easy target.

JessM Wed 05-Feb-14 07:40:24

The odd thing about his hair is that he has stuck with the exact same hairstyle that Nanny imposed when it first grew long enough to have a style. This is not usual.

BlueBelle Wed 05-Feb-14 07:16:25

I like Prince Chares he is not afraid to take all the brickbats thrown at him all the jokes about ears and hair ( William doesn't have much left but I don't hear jokes about his appearance) he has principles and sticks to them no matter what c* is thrown at him

He has some solid ideas on environment and will I m sure be proved right in years to come He's the only person I've seen in the flood area and offering financial help. His hands have been tied for years and he is obviously doing what he can and still there are those who decry him

I m presuming you don't like him Absent wink

Ceesnan Wed 05-Feb-14 07:00:01

Absent may I refer you to your comment on the Cutting Contact With MiL thread 05.02.14 where you talk about no excuse for rudeness? smile
