Morrisons Shop To-day ??

The problem with that very realistic post is the area I live in is certainly not affluent and we don't live in the sticks. We do live fairly close to an oil refinery.

I guess I am saying that I wish the supermarkets would treat all of their customers the same and price goods accordingly so that a customer in one shop is not paying more than a customer in another shop if the supermarket respects the loyalty of all it's customers, whether that be buying bread, milk, petrol or another.

You have made a very valid point though.

Its all about local loading......the companies make decisions about the affluence (or not) of any given area and charge accordingly. Also how far you are 'out in the sticks' has a bearing.....really out of the way places can often be higher. Basically they are just trying to make as much money as they think they can get away with....same as ever.

They all still charge different rates for petrol per litre from store to store, WHY?

A customer using Morrisons at Exeter is paying less than say a customer at Morrisons Coventry. The same at other companies too such as Tesco etc. WHY?

Did you know you can freeze milk in the cartons and plastic bottles most supermarkets use. We do it all the time, lasts the same length of time too. Mind you we do have skimmed milk so that could help.

The average size of households in the u.k. is 2.3. I went t buy milk in Morrisons, £1.30 for 4 pints or 3 for £3. There is no way I could use 12 pints of milk before it went off so I had to pay the high price.

I get on well with our Morrison's. Very good with returns too.

I do find a problem however, not only with Morrison's.

Why is petrol charged at different rates from store to store??

I have contacted both Morrison's and Tesco HQ's but I have never had a satisfactory response. Petrol varies 2/3p a litre at different stores. I have asked why they treat loyal customers differently but they don't seem to get it.

There is one fishmonger locally, who sells Cornish Mackerall that is as fresh as possible, and I buy from him. I lived in Devon feetlebaum, and we used to catch them and eat them within a couple of hours. It's a real experience, isn't it, but it spoils me for eating Mackerall unless it's absolutely fresh.

I don't eat mackerel inland! Used to catch them when I lived on Cornwall, and they were on the plate within a couple of hours.

We have a farm butcher, up a rutty track, in a short of shack - wonderful! It does the suspension no favours driving there, but the meat is excellent, they cut what you want and they are not expensive.

We use our local butcher for our meat .Iit is really good and dare I say it better than supermarket !

The fish is so floppy seasider! The fish salesman told me it gets 5 days on the open counter, then is moved into the fridges, but packed and covered in cling film. The mackerel did it for me, eyes so dull, skin not shiny, lingered about on the counter, and later in the week, it appeared in those blue containers, covered in cling film, but minus their heads. The eyes must have even persuaded the fish counter staff it was too long since they were in the sea.
I wonder if this sort of thing is confined to our store, or some kind of national approach to how long fish can be on sale. I wish they had a smaller selection of fish, fresh each morning as our green grocer did, before they were demolished to make room for the Morrisons now on the site.

What is wrong with the fish counter? I only ask because I sometimes buy from ours?

The fish counter at our local morrisons puts me off buying anything fresh, other than their bread and vegetables, which are good.
Our local butcher is slightly more expensive than the supermarket, but the meat is so much better. Plus, the butcher cuts meat to whatever size, etc you want. They also provide me with free marrow bones for my dogs, and 5 lbs of pet mince for £1. Plus, it's always an enjoyable visit, with customers and staff all chatting away - I sound nostalgic for the 50's, apologies, I'm not.

I went into M&S yesterday to buy a joint of beef which was on offer at 30% off. When I got to the till it came up with a message that that joint was not to be sold. So they went to find me a similar size joint in the 30% off range. And guess what! That came up with the same message! So |I went to Waitrose instead. I did point out to the boy serving me that they were saving a lot of 30%s by not letting us actually buy the stuff.

Nonu I have decided to go out for Easter Sunday lunch with family,DS2 & new wife off to Spain the Tuesday after so making sure everyone catches up before they go,I decided on Lamb but was lucky as DS1 got me a leg from Sainsburys with his nector points and staff discount This has gone off track again hasn't it but never mind every thread I start dies a quick death.

I have to cough though, I am a wee bit ahead of you in the pork stakes as I bought a pork joint at Christmas as I was SURE we would not have enough to go round but of course we did .
Sooo, it is making an appearance this Easter, I know Lamb is traditional, but hey so jeffin expensive , I just refuse to buy it .
The family I know full well will enjoy it just as much.
We will be having a houseful , so very excited !

Nonu that would have been to polite to what I was thinking I had my heart set on a nice crispy piece of crackling but wouldn't buy it just out of principal,and yes Kitty their Pork Loin is certainly worth trying but as I say it was the principal of not meeting customers needs which annoyed me more than anything else.

Shame about your Special offer disappointment Glam.

I've not been to Morrisons for ages but in the past I've bought their Pork Loin joints and they were lovely - I could recommend them to anyone.
