Back gate doesn`t lock, it`s only a small wrought iron gate in a fairly low wall, easily climbed. I don`t think though that it`s a security issue, just wish that people would find out for sure where their friends live, or knock and wait for someone to open the door.
Drunken neighbour went out again, was carried down the side passage later by a mate, then she came out, staggering down the passage, must have decided to play him at his own game.
Daughter wants us to move, but our house is worth next to nothing, we can`t afford to buy anywhere else.

And on your birthday, too! Seriously, it could get nasty - best nipped in the bud. Does no-one else seem to take any notice of all this? Or are they too scared to do anything about it?

Mind you, the police know about them, they`ve been to the house several times. I think it really needs the landlord`s intervention, i.e. KICK `EM OUT!!

They`ve just started up again, he`s come back from another boozy session, but she looks drunk as well now! If the noise really picks up again, I will be ringing 101. What a way to spend a sunny Sunday!

If you ring 101, number, and just tell them what's going on, explaining that you wouldn't want them to be coming to your house for that reason, I'm sure that they would take that on board.

We know the landlords of the house opposite, but only by the fact that they used to live near my daughter. I asked her if she had a number for them, but no, but my grandson, who played with thneir boy when younger, says he may be able to get it. I was going to ring the police today when the horrid noisy, nasty drunk and his wife were raising Cain in the street outside, but then I knew the police would also come here, and he`d see them at our door, so didn`t.

number, the police really ought to know about these strange people. You would not be wasting their time. Yours might not be the only household they have invaded - or will invade.

Number, maybe Nellie's right? Don't want to worry you, but it could be a bit of a scam-type thing? And do you know who the landlord is for the house across the road - maybe he needs contacting about the anti-social behaviour of his tenants?

IT`S HAPPENED AGAIN!! This afternoon, daughter number two and her hubby were here, they left the back door open because it was so hot, next thing we know is a strange woman, very unsteady on her feet, walked in, wandered through here, SIL said "Wrong house", and she turned and left, no apology! She went to the house opposite, where the noisy, nasty foreign drunk lives, so presume she was also a foreigner.

My in-laws had a habit of leaving the front door open in hot weather, but the door to the vestibule closed. But that all stopped when they discovered that whilst they were sitting in the dining room, watching TV, someone had been in and upstairs, and rifled the bedrooms.

I had to have a security gate fixed to my side door, as I had an intruder some years ago. I was upstairs and he came into the kitchen. Must have heard me coming down as he made a break for it. Police arrested a yong man later and he admitted to entering my home

I know he turned out to be harmless, we`re just thanking our lucky stars that he wasn`t a nasty drunk, like the man opposite.

Funny in your case apricot but I think we can all see that the situation for the OP was very different.

I thought this was funny rather than frightening. One of my sons in law once got drunk, staggered home and went to sleep on the sofa. Unfortunately he was too befuddled to remember that he had married and bought a house and had gone "home" to his mother's!

Our front and back doors are always locked. It would be so easy for someone (opportunist thief, or worse) to open door quietly and creep in. Our Community Police meetings keep advising us of this. Especially at this time of the year, when people could be in their back gardens, leaving the front door unlocked.

Yes, he did appear to be drunk, and as he had a foreign accent, he almost certainly was, as almost all the East European men around here seem to spend all their time on the booze. He staggered off down the side of the house opposite, they are E. Europeans, and he`s hardly ever sober, so he was probably visiting them. The only drawback to keeping the door locked is that we`d have to get up every time any family came round. I do lock it at 10pm, and it doesn`t get unlocked till I get up in the morning, even if I`m not first up.

Did you smell alcohol. Chances are he wouldn't have been drunk if you weren't in.
It's a well known ploy: ie, they say, oh sorry mate, got the wrong house.
Or in my case, it was a boat.

I know Alie , but the world has changed so much that we just have to now, which is a shame. number at least your caller left quickly, sounds as if it happened because he was drunk, but as others say, lock the door!

Thinks sadly of the days when we lived in London, and never locked our door...in the 1960s....the worst that happened in four years was that a drunken friend came in and slept on the floor.
