I collect costume jewellery from charity shops and have a number of plastic boxes full of them.
What surprises me is that I place a new necklace or pendant in one of the boxes and when I come to take them out they are all intertwined with the other jewellery. This happens regularly and I just don't know how it happens. 
Or computer cables even though they are attached at both ends they still tangle.
Is that what happens in my knick drawer then?

Charger leads for me. My wool stash. needles with cotton on in my sewing bits tin.
Ah! perhaps its the Coriolis effect where the motion of the earth turning affects the winds in the different hemispheres.
I wonder if our cables etc. get tangled in opposite directions in the different hemispheres?
Anything metal like cables could also be affected by the the earth's magnetic fields.
Then there are all those electrons zooming around the atoms in our stuff, they could be doing it.
Prove me wrong!

I have a coat hanger with an old towel or soft cloth around the hook bit, and I hang necklaces over it and hang it on the tie rack/wire on the wardrobe door.
No tangling occurs overnight or when I'm not looking
