Why is it?

Did anyone see the pictures of Paul McCartney on holiday in Ibiza in the press today? He was on the beach, granted, but oh dear me, he'd forgotten his bra. Not a pretty sight.

I was running a pitch at an Antique Fair today and saw several men walking around bare chested. None of them had anything worth baring and, despite the weather, it seemed an inappropriate style for the opccasion.

I agree, roses and janerowena, although MrA might leave off the waistcoat if it was just Tesco...

DBH is repressed too. He rarely takes his top off unless we are on a beach.

Phoenix quite right too, good on Mr P for dressing properly.Mr Roses wouldn't even go to Waitrose without 3 piece suit, formal shirt and cufflinks.

I think there's something genetic in this whipping off of the tops - perhaps going back to cave man days? Bless them - I must admit that the old George Melly song 'It must be jelly 'cause jam don't shake like that' comes to mind.

I think Mr P must be a bit repressed. In all the 13 years we've been together, he has never gone outside topless, not even when cutting the grass in the garden! In addition he has never even worn one of those singlet/vest things, always a T shirt, ordinary shirt or polo shirt.

Cancel the opening sentence, just been thinking about other things and Mr P is definitely repressed.

Have to say I just flicked over to the tennis from the football as Novak was changing his top; now he can walk about anywhere anytime shirtless imo . Cor!!

My DD once asked (loudly!), when viewing an enormous lady approaching, "Why has that lady got no knees?"

I'd just like to report that DH changed when we went to town this afternoon as he deemed it inappropriate to go shopping in shorts.

I dislike seeing anyone out and about not wearing a top of some description. I don't care what they look like, young or old, slim or fat. I like people to be properly dressed in town. In their own gardens or at the seaside - fine. Or in parks. But in places where you shop and eat and on transport - keep your clothes on, please.

And you know what - I really would like to make it illegal. Because if we are out for the day, I find that I head for places that advertise no admission unless wearing a shirt and shoes.

A colleague of mine many years ago, in her 60s, had a double mastectomy and used to strip down to the waist when she worked in her garden! The garden wasn't open to public view, but it did make me wonder... but subsequently I thought why the heck not. If she wants to and she can.

I don't mind who removes what clothing in hot weather!

I do worry about all that perspiration dripping unfettered onto things like café chairs. I saw one large man that looked as if he had just had a shower and it was trickling from his belly button down his stomach and dripping on the ground. Fascinating to watch, hard not to stare.

Oh I don't know grumppa my mum's 70ish neighbour used to garden in a bikini top and short shorts. She did put a vest top on as well to walk the dog.
So I suppose that's ok

What annoys me is when you see these unpleasantly exposed bodies, the large beer belly especially and they look at the not so slim me in a normal skirt and top as if I'm a freak !

I agree entirely about garden or beach, rosesareread. But I wonder what the reaction would have been if a grandad had started a thread about women who expose too much of themselves.

That it was a joke did occur to me but there are some very silly laws out there already and, obviously, I cannot really know how other people are thinking or whether thay are joking when I can't see them or hear their tone of voice. The emoticons are useful to help indicate jokery.

I agree with*Lona*, we don't get that much sun in this country, and I know everything goes south as we get older, but cut us some slack ladies, summer doesn't last that long, and it makes us feel young again, to strip the shirt off .
