At Cornwall`s Lizard Point, there`s a house I`d love to live in. It`s not grand, just in a lovely position. Granted there`s a car park in front, but out of season it would be lovely.

If I had lots of money I'd live exactly where I am, but would put in a couple of new bathrooms and get it decorated- and would make a Grand Design flat in the huge barn (not before putting lots of new nests for the swallows and house-martins under the eaves first- as they are the current inhabitants)

I'd love to live in Stoneacre ( NT, near Maidstone). It has a delightful garden, and wonderful views. Or Winforton Court, where we go for family weekends away at least once a year. It's perfect!
Failing that...find me a half-timbered hice in beautiful grinds, on the edge of a historic country tine. Do me fine!

If I had loads of money I would probably stay where I am (get it updated) and buy a swish flat somewhere sunny but no more than 4 hours flight away, a cottage in Devon or Cornwall and another super duper flat in Australia (not sure where). And flit around between them as the fancy took me.

I've always wanted to stay in one of the NT cottages at Port Quin but they don't allow dogs. We used to have family holidays at a farmhouse in a little place called Halgabron. I lived at a place called Hengar Manor before it became a Hoseasons holiday resort; as I've said before, I started at the top and worked my way down .

Now Smallfield House would be a very swish place for a Gransnet weekend - room for 20, the whole place to ourselves for £2700 for a two-night weekend (plus meals!) That is £135 each for two nights. Catering extra as required.

Have you ever stayed in the NT places in Boscastle, Tegan? They have about half a dozen there as holiday lets.

My mother's father was born here. But I do not expect it looked like that in 1870. His father was the publican, not the owner of the castle.

One of my ancestors did live in this Jacobean Manor House - but as a servant boy aged 12.

I suspect that I would be in the servants' quarters too, unless anyone I know chooses it as a wedding venue.

The photos don't do it justice, it's lovely and has the most beautiful rose gardens I have ever seen. Rivers and streams run through the grounds and they have finally done up the top floor - so it's ready for me to move in!

It looks still good even after the floods the NT did a good job I think

I'd live in Boscastle; I lived there in my late teens and I've never found anywhere else to match it.

That does look lovely, whitewave. I was going to say that Greenway (Agatha Christie's house) is lovely, and I noticed that Coleton Fishacre is just nearby.

I always enjoy looking around a NT property that would be 'manageable', imagining myself living there (with enough money of course!).
