Simple pleasures

At the moment the cup of tea which HymnsElf brings me every morning while I waste time on here.

Getting up very early and going into the garden as the sun comes up and enjoying the freshness,peace and calm quiet as the day starts.

I'm with you*Gaga*, love early mornings. My garden is a bit Hitchcock-like at that time, with birds lined up on the roof and fence waiting for me to top up the feeding station. I bet the neighbours curse me as they are quite noisy! The best bit then is my soak in the bath with a good book and sometimes a snack, usually between 5.30 and 6 am. Retirement is bliss!

Another simple pleasure is DH bringing me my chocolate allocation when I'm watching telly!

Looking out over the garden from the conservatory - garden and conservatory small, but lovely. Walking the dogs and noticing how even if we're doing the same walk as yesterday, everywhere is slightly different, especially in the spring and autumn

Sharing a joke with my next door neighbour, who has a droll take on life and can always make me laugh with his witticisms.

Many things, but last night it was listening to the the eerie sound of the seals wailing. It was still light here at 10.30 and I could see them from my bedroom window, wobbling around on the rocks just off the beach. Magical!

The cup of tea DH brings me every morning so that I can read my book for half an hour before getting up

Opening the curtains on a night sunny morning. Or in the autumn opening them to see a low mist over the marshes.

Sitting in my garden listening to the birds with nothing else to disturb. Having lived in two cities it is bliss to live with fresh air and quiet.

Hearing good news from anyone, family or friend or whoever as there is so much gloom and doom around. Have had a lot recently, one son promoted, another started a good new job, why am I now waiting for the bad news to come?

Watching the chickens settling into dust bowls and listening to their contented clucking as I put the washing on the line.

sitting in the garden just looking at my flowers or as I said in a similar post, I love sitting in a field in the countryside with a flask of tea and a sandwich, as I live on a road similar to the M25 with huge lorries racing past my door every day, I love the peace but I have a friend who lives in the middle of wild moorland, countryside, a farmers wife who has wonderful views and she like nothing better than to go off as I do with flask and food and look for a lovely layby and have her picnic.
I guess its just being close to nature that appeals to all of us.

My horse coming when I call him
eating what I want, when I want,where I want
and best of all the company of my family and friends

the single retired life rocks...

Tea in bed first thing in the morning. A long relaxing bubblebath after a day's gardening. Clean bedding, being the first to get into it. Discovering I have more money in my account than I thought I had!

My beloved swing chair, a good book, cup of Earl Grey surrounded by my trees and flowers, birds, butterflies and bees. I have even made a bee 'trough' out of a shallow dish with marbles and stones with water added for bees to have a drink in this hot weather.

Getting into bed after being up til 4.30 am because GN is addictive!

Last week I spent a blissful 3 hours sketching in The Wallace Collection with GD aged 9. I can't remember when I last felt so happy

Sitting on the sofa with a small DGD cuddled I toy my side. Sitting in my garden in the evening cool with a cup of tea. Being single again through choice and doing whatever I want when I want. Holidaying with my family? Having the time and peace to read for as long as I like.

Should be to my side not toy that'll teach me to proof read!

I've just come back from visiting Mum - always a trying experience - to find DH pouring me a cup of tea! A very welcome simple pleasure!

Retirement after 21 years in a stressful job.Waking up,when the weather is bad,and staying in bed instead of driving to work.Waking up,when the weather is good,and reading a book in the garden.
Starting a new book that I've been looking forward to reading.
When my DGC arrive,run and give me a hug.

The scent in the garden early in the morning. Watching the bats emerge from their roost in my roof at dusk. Listening to the dawn chorus (we still have a good one).

The peace of settling into our new life (after DH`s stroke 6 months ago) realising what is important in life the past 6 months have been a very trying time. Watching the birdlife outside our window and enjoying visits from family and friends and not feeling I am completely on my own
