I've done a little googling and found two dictionaries that give a non-weather application of 'inclement'.
Collins gives 'harsh, severe or merciless'
and Webster's College dictionary gives 'not kind or merciful'.
As in a guilty person pleading for clemency, I suppose.
I agree Bags that 'inclement' is an elegant word and I shall use it at every opportunity, both in respect of the weather, and people's temperaments
The sort of suggestions that use the word inclement, ana. Sorry if that wasn't clear. You could use the noun inclemency or the adverb inclemently if you don't want to talk about weather.
Can one be inclemently cross, for instance?

Someone is complaining about the use of the word "inclement" when used of weather on railway station recorded messages. They, the complainers, say "no-one talks like that". Well they should, I reckon. It's a lovely, expressive word without being OTT.
Come on, gransnetters, let's be having some suggestions so I can use it more.
