Back home after a lovely day with littlies, my not so littlies and their menfolk and 2 sis ILs and a grown.up nephew! M1 and 6 living down to their wet Sunday night reputation- do not envy the Walthamstow contingent who had another 60 miles on top of the 2h 20 it took us to get here! I ache in every muscle and ligament but it eas worth every minute! Toby asked" why do we give so many presents? I think he was overwhelmed so I explained that giving presents to those we love makes us happy and he was totally satisfied.

Soutra and anno Such sweet memories. Enjoy the family celebrations Soutra When Torben, who is four and a half, was asked where he was born, he replied in a very languid, laid-back manner...Africa! He was born in London. Still makes me giggle.

Wow! Today's weather is as good as it gets. Bright sunshine and glassy sea. The early mist rising up from the sea half-cloaked the base of the mountains. The peaks appeared to be floating. The ferry from the Islands looked almost ghostly.

Well, Roger v Novak in the finals later today. Something special to watch at G&T time. Yesterday's match between the All Blacks and Scotland was extremely exciting. I yelled and jumped around with each Scottish try. Rory kept a low profile and hid in the computer cupboard. MacS carried on doing the crossword.

Soutra, when my GD2 was 3, I said, 'How old are you today?' Looking very self-important, she responded, 'I'm fourteen'. So now she is 12 and looks 14! 'Little Toby' won't be 'little' for much longer, so enjoy him while you can.

Won't be around tomorrow as we are going to DD and SIL's to celebrate little Toby's third birthday(last Thurs), and DD3's (next Wed) and have a big family lunch and tea. All DDs will be there which will be lovely. When he was with us the other week he said"I just 2 at the moment but on my birfday I will be whee" These years are so quickly over aren't they?
Hope life is being kinder to all of you with worries and burdens.

I love having new books to read. Such a treat! Also, remembering the special feeling when a new baby has his/her first outing.

Been in cosy chair, soop, finished book, went to library and have four more books...this is a rest weekend.

Alie You couldn't possibly visit your grandson when you have a nasty throat bug. Isn't it usually the other way around? You visit a grandchild and are usually "gifted" a bug of some sort or another. Best place for you right now is in a cosy armchair with a whole lot of pampering and plenty of soothing honey-laced drinks.

The weather here in bonnie Kintyre is beautiful 'though the breeze has a bite. We had our daily walk earlier and thoughts of looking out woolly gloves and socks came to mind.

Back again later. Tennis to watch this afternoon. and at 5.30 Scotland v New Zealand rugby match. Such excitement!!!

What a yucky damp morning so I thought I would pop into the Kitchen with some freshly made croissants and pain au chocolat. Tea and coffee is ready.

Poppy cat who enters or exits the house via our bedroom window woke me at 6.30 wanting out. I opened the bedroom window then watched with my heart in my mouth as she slid down the damp roof but thankfully managed an ungainly stop at the gutter. Poor wee thing.

What a shame you won't be able to visit your grandson Alie. I've made you a honey and lemon drink to help sooth your throat.

Think I overdid it this last week. I went to the singing and enjoyed it (one of the organisers is happy with me, the other not, but no hassle) and found my voice flagging at the end...
...carried on the next day talking a lot through the family history meeting (we are going to write our stories of the last war) then woke up yesterday sneezing, with a croak instead of a voice.
Got a throat bug.
So I didn't go to Oxford to see my grandson.......

And if her doesn't want the choccy biscuits you can have some of those too! .

If you don't want the huffs I offered in my previous post you could have the ((huggs)) I intended to send .

Teetime I have been to a couple of funerals lately where the 'ex' was in attendance, because the DC wanted them to be there. Unless someone is objecting strongly, eg a new spouse, I see no reason to stay away - after all you had a lot of shared memories - and children.

soop I do hope the appointment goes well on Tuesday and they will decide on the best treatment for MacS

We had a lovely lunch out today with some lovely people. I still feel stuffed to the gunnels, but DH is wandering around now looking for tea!

Such topsy -turvy posts, some really good news, some not! So pleased for the good bits and sad for the bad.
I daren't watch telly tonight for the same reason as Kitty's post.... too much of a roller-coaster. Big hugs to all who need them....... right lets get on with something useful..... ironing/dusting?

Charleygirl I was indeed greatly relieved not to have sat through the agony of that match. Seeing snippets on the news was difficult to watch. Oh dear! At least he appeared to have kept his cool. He has matured.... I imagine that Djokovic will win. He's unstoppable. Such energy and flexibility and ability, a winning combination. I miss Rafa. He remains a favourite of mine.

soop I think it as well that you made a mistake re Andy's tennis playing time yesterday because you would have been upset seeing him almost whitewashed by Roger Federer.

Galen I do! We enjoyed The Glums on the radio. That innocent genre of humour was right for the time. It's a pity that some of today's comedians feel that in order to be funny they have to use coarse language. Hey ho! As bags would say.

Tegan It appears that your patience has been stretched to the limit. Do you also get those awful phone calls that either start with 'Hi...' or there is nothing but a distant beep and then silence...or the caller speaks a language that defies interpretation? Well, so do we. It drives me bonkers. I have been known to get extremely cross and I do raise my voice, which makes MacS shake his head and raise an eyebrow.
