Just popped in for a little hug but the place seems deserted.
I went to see Mum today after receiving a message from my brother saying she was on top form to discover that they had just called the Emergency Reponse Team as her breathing had become so bad. The ERT were going to arrive within a couple of hours but had authorised giving mum lots of ventolin. I am now waiting to see what their opinion is. Most of you will know by now that I have had a fractious relationship with Mum so it's strange that I should feel a bit odd now. I expected to be matter of fact! I have said that I don't want to be there for the end but my brothers do want to be. Now I'm in two minds.
No, no pets now but dog-sit a highly opinionated, gobby-mouthed madam of a Jack Russell from time to time! She adores any man going and only really likes me at mealtimes or if I mention walks! Sounds like the Rory clan have settled in to stay! Clearly know cat lovers when they see them (or, like me, you're a soft touch!)
Charleygirl That was so thoughtful of Tara...cats do not much care for having sick left unattended. They are fussy in that respect. loopyloo Mowgli lived to be a ripe old age. You must have taken the very best possible care of him. Have you another cat? We always swore that we would not (put ourselves through the pain of losing another cat) after our Hamish died. So, a good question...what is Rory doing living like a prince in our home! What's more, why have I fed his daughter cat! And, why will I now check that mother cat isn't waiting for her supper. We arrived in Scotland without a cat. We appear to have adopted three... MacS says it's a mystery...
Clever cat Charleygirl, my cat used to throw up on the sofa! Mowgli could never understand why I reacted the way I did! He wasn't the brightest of felines, bless him! Lost most of his 9 lives in first year of his 19 year life!
soop Rory has met his match here. Tara came to tell me the other evening when I was in the kitchen, by crying and jumping around, wanting me to follow her, that she had been sick near her food bowl and could it possibly be cleared up, please? It was easy because I have laminate floors and she had missed the rug.
loopylouMacRory is chief officiator in this house. I swear that he can tell the time. One moment he's dozing/snoring and then...in an instant, he's whinging for his afternoon snack. A cannier cat I've yet to meet. I wish you a peaceful yuletide.
Sounds so cosy soop, do hope you'll be storm-free for at least a while. I assume he-who-should-be obeyed MacRory has dutifully supervised the proceedings? Have a lovely sparkling Christmas!
MacSporran has cleaned the windows. It isn't until he finishes the job, that one realises we've been seeing through a glass darkly. The salt deposit from the wild storm had left a sticky, filmy residue. Now, at last, the windows sparkle. The reflection of the lights on the tree is lovely.
Agus Those people who witnessed the accident will NEVER forget the scene. I'm trying to do a few last minute jobs. Every few minutes I think...poor people, I feel so sad for you.
"You never know the minute", is a phrase I have heard a few times since yesterday.
It is moving soop when good hearted, complete strangers don't think twice and care enough to do whatever they can.
I know people took their coats off to cover bodies, others did so much to comfort and reassure those who were injured or in shock and others again were directing traffic until the emergency services arrived.
Yes, you are correct vegasmags. I believe it was an elderly couple together with their teenage granddaughter.
Agus It was moving to hear of the numbers of passers by who rushed to the aid of those who had been hit by the lorry. Poor people. I cannot imagine how the driver must be feeling.
Glasgow certainly has had some awful shocks this year. I feel so sad for the families of those who were harmed in yesterday's incident. You just never know how the day is going to end when you step outside your door, do you?
We have had a lot to deal with. Firstly, The Glasgow School of Art, The Clutha tragedy and now yesterday's horror.
Although broken-hearted, we are a stoical lot and as always, will pull together with strong support for those who need it. So far, I have not heard of anyone I know or know of being involved. Hope that doesn't change.
Good morning to all our lovely Kitcheners...the rain has ceased. It is a pleasure to look through the window to see the islands of Jura and Islay. For some time they've been shrouded in a cloak of mist.
I'm thinking of the people for whom yesterday's shopping trip turned into a nightmare. There will be a few homes in which the jollity of the festive season has come to a ghastly end.
A pal from the village was shopping in Glasgow yesterday. She is safe. Thank goodness.
Right this minute I would love the companionship of my Granspals. Not virtual but for real.
The driver was seen to be slumped over the wheel- I assume that he may have had a heart attack but that has not been verified as far as I know. Absolutely awful and following the tragedy in Glasgow last Christmas, is unimaginable.
