I haven't encountered this problem yet, but my grandson calls me GrandadL*****, and calls his other grandad GrandadP*****. That would work for his friends too, I think.

Depends - the 18 and 16 year olds call me by my first name, and the younger ones call me either Nannie*****) or first name. If I taught any of their parents, I am Mrs E, as I was always known.

GD came round with a few friends and they all called me Mrs G. Told me it was a group vote as they thought I was cool and special

Older ones call me by my first name and younger ones call me Grandma or Granny G. I don't think any young person in the family calls me Mrs ...

DiL and ex SiL call me by my first name though I used to call my inlaws Mum /Dad + surname as appropriate.

Everyone calls me by my nickname, even my DGCs friends.

My friends' children, most of them pushing 40 now, still call me Aunty M. They just can't bear to just use my first name, which is what everyone else does.

So you've no idea where Gally originated??

My friends SiL christened her Finky when the first met as he didn't feel comfortable with L* or mum. He and her DD have been married about 15 yrs now and he still calls her that.

My GC's range from 10 to 2. They, their friends and friends parents all call me Gally confused?

Our neighbours' children (aged 5 and 4 ) call us Charlie's (the cat) Mummy and Daddy.

Yes, times have changed. It was either Mr or Mrs x, or for neighbours or friends we were particularly close to Auntie or Uncle. That changed before the 1970's in my experience, it's all first names these days.
Good!

Some older ones call me by my first name, younger ones often also call me granny.
Times have changed so much. I called my ex inlaws Mr x and Mrs x.

ninathenana Sat 15-Nov-14 00:55:53

I don't know any of DGC friends (5 and 2.5) my own DC called their friend's grandparents Mrs xxx and Mr xxx times have changed though.

One of DD' s friends (26) won't call me by my Christian name he says it's disrespectful even thought I've told him it's fine. Oddly he is ok with calling me mum confused I don't mind either way.

That should have been GDs' as there are two of them.

Ana Fri 14-Nov-14 20:35:10

One of my GD's friends (she lives next door) is only 3. She insists on calling me 'Their Nana' grin

durhamjen Fri 14-Nov-14 20:30:56

My grandchildren range from 7 to 21. All their friends call me Jen.

Ana Fri 14-Nov-14 20:27:56

I'm talking about younger grandchildren than yours are, of course, tanith. Mine are only 8.

Ana Fri 14-Nov-14 20:26:14

Children don't always like addressing older people by their first names, though.

tanith Fri 14-Nov-14 20:23:56

My grandchildrens partners/girl/boyfriends call me by my christian name..

durhamjen Fri 14-Nov-14 20:22:27

My 12 year old GD only lives 500yards from us so I often have her popping in and out or see her in the street.SHe has just been on the phone asking this question . She has suggested MRS G(first letter of surname) or MRS O (first letter of Christian name) any one had this question asked
