I put my Christmas Tree up last night !

We have a (rather realistic) artificial tree for indoors and a little (well not so little now) potted tree that we move into the front of the house and cover with twinkly lights for Christmas. Then it will go back out the back at the side of the shed. DH has just ordered some huge "festoon" lights to go in the tree in the back garden and around the shed roof. Crazy but the children love it.

All together........ "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas......"

We finally gave up in the needles a few years ago and bought a very nice artificial tree in a January sale - how stingy can you get!? But we cannot put it up till someone fit arrives to get it out of the loft! Goodness knows when that will be - hopefully before Christmas.

Oh goodness, far too early. More that 3 weeks before and two weeks after. For me that spoils the 'specialness' of Christmas.

Mine will be mid-December, and I shall be itching to take it back down again by Christmas day!

I'll do mine at the end of the week - we are off for a few days at the weekend, and, as some of you know, I am having the hip replacement 18th December ( not the only one having an operation round about then!) and am determined to be well prepared.

One is enough, though.

We'll probably put ours up on the last day of term to surprise the children when they come back here after school. We shipped all the non-organic decorations here and they are stored somewhere in the garage which is cluttered with all the extra furniture and bits and pieces that we cannot use in our current little house. I just hope I can find them. (We didn't have a tree last year.)

When we bought a new doorbell, we found it had all sorts of different chimes and tunes. These include Jingle Bells, so we'll switch it over from its usual ding-dong later this month to amuse them. It does pall very quickly.

I love to see all the decorations, lights and trees. I think it's very generous of people who decorate the outside of their homes. I generally don't do it much before the 18th. Not because I mean, rather because I'm just too unorganised. Every years the same. It sort of creeps up on me then whollop it's here. I'm not good this time of year. I just about manage to go to work. I find anything that needs effort exhausting .

We wait until a week before but buy it and keep it about a week before that. Must go into the garden and cut down some holly soon before the birds eat all the berries.

I love Christmas but don't bring it into the house too soon as all the green stuff would be very sad looking by 25th.

Note to self though, must check the lights are working, as every year, I hold my breath when switching them on, in the hope that they will work!

I can imagine the look of excitement on your DGC's faces when they see Grandma's tree gilly. Job well done

Christmas isn't Christmas until I'm with the family.

Mine isn't going up any time soon. At least I've found it - in the wrong drawer.

I put mine up the week before the big day. There are a lot of houses lit up around here already.

I would like to wait until about the 21st, but might do it on the 14th.

I'm glad you are all happy to be getting ready for Christmas I'll leave mine a while yet thanks.. I can't wait to get them back down and in their boxes..

Mine not up. I will wait a couple of weeks yet, otherwise I get fed up with the decorations.
Last year I waited until one of my daughters came home, as she wanted to put up the decorations her way
But when she came, she was tired and unmotivated to do it. So I had waited for nothing.
This year, I have warned her that they will be done before she gets here.

I've been put right off real Christmas trees by the ones that litter all the streets around my area for 6 months into the New Year

So - mine is up too - a good size table top one bought from Matalan for £15 - not because I'm a cheapskate, but because it looks so real, it even has a few dead needles on some of the branches. The decorations probably cost more than the tree.

We haven't got our tree yet. We have a real tree from a small garden supplier who is the son of my DH's ex-manager at work (retired).
I am about to get out the tree we bought a couple of years ago for the conservatory. It is a one that looks like a real tree which has shed it's leaves, it has multi-coloured flower lights all over it. Very pretty. (There must be a better way to describe it though).

I have started - I do it in tiny bits - so all the Christmas crockery is out, and the conservatory is done.

We also decorated yesterday, A big white artificial white one with twinkly blue lights [which is twinkling away even as I type.]
A smaller twinkly one in the kitchen, a mid size twinkly in the other room.
Then all decorations round the house. Even though I say it myself it just looks fabulous & festive.
It was nice that as a couple of girls passed the window,this morning they remarked how nice it was to see the tree all twinkling. Mr N puts them on before he goes for the paper

It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas
all round !!

My son (at his house - not mine!) brought back in a Xmas tree last year that was very dead. It had definitely not survived the summer in the pot outside. With enough lights and a bit of tinsel it looked very cheery.

It will have no needles left by Christmas.
