What do they spend it on?

Oh I wish! Perhaps the novelty would wear off after a while but to be debt-free, able to help family and friends, give to charity as I wish.
Heard of a couple who had £1m bonuses each last year I'm afraid........

I would put some in other countries I guess. So that if one country went belly up, I would still have some wealth in another.
I dont even feel right saying that really.

Charities of course can benefit. Some family members also, so long as it didnt cause offence.

My nephew is in dare I say it banking £10000 at least in bonuses each year. No idea what his monthly take home is.

Our closest friends son also earns that nina plus a substantial salary. He left school with very little qualifications, and sort of 'drifted into' finance!

I don't believe you can ever have 'too much' money as the option is always there to give some away.Not only to friends and family and chosen charities, but to your town or village/church etc.The chance to be a philanthropist would be rather nice.

Looking at TV property shows, it seems that house prices of around £1million are not uncommon in some areas, so I guess that's where some of it goes.
A quick look at sunday supplements shows lots of other things money can be spent on e.g. expensively priced clothes, wines, holidays etc etc.

In approx 2008, about the time of the so called crash, there was a guy on tv about to go into business selling or making gold taps. [I cant remember which].
My husband said "huh", that business wont work.
I told him, that on the contrary. It is especially in "hard times", that the rich get richer. So the man's business was probably on to a winner.

No one person should get paid that sort of money.
What would I do with lots of money? Probably help the kids out with bigger houses. They both live in fairly small cramped properties.

Soontobe With regard to stashing money in other countries I don't think it's as easy as that to keep it safe. The International banking systems are all intertwined and related. They all heavily depend on each other.

Even the very rich USA provoked a banking crisis was caused by very bad and barely ethical financial management.

If I had loads of money I would not have to worry about paying for nursing home fees (when and if the time comes) and if I had sufficient, maybe I could stay at home with the relevant staff looking after me. I would have to move to a very much larger house so that the staff could live in. I can but dream.

But the wealth abroad could be in property or a business or whatever?

I didnt even know that platinum taps existed or were more expensive than gold ones!

Just remembered private school fees, and all the related uniforms and equipment - a great way to use up lots of money, I guess.

I don't think wealthy people have any problem spending money, I don't think I would have!
The richest couple I know live in Dubai, have houses in Uk and France , kids go to international schools, they have servants, rolexes etc you name it. They are also really nice people ( gritted teeth emoticon if there was one). They haven't inherited money just work in incredibly well paid jobs.

hi there,,,charlie,,,,,money doesnt make you happy,,,,the only good thing is you dont have to worry about your bills etc,,,,you can enjoy a gardener to keep your garden tidy,,,or you can have the latest car,,or gadgets,,,but believe me it doesnt make you happy,,,,trust me i know,,,,,,,,,

It doesn't make you happy but you can be miserable in comfort...

Being poverty stricken doesn't usually make life particularly happy either - at least if you have money you can choose to give it away.

We might help our families and give to charity - but what do the people who get this money actually do with it? They insist that they should have it and deserve it, but I cannot think that they do so for altruistic reasons; so we are left with the original question - what do they spend it on?......yachts, properties all round the world, designer gear.....and then what?

It revolts me to be honest when people are starving.

I don't mind how much people have as long as everyone else is not so far behind. It is the gap, not the amount that is the problem.
