Well, they just say what they see. Small children are very literal-minded - why wouldn't they be?

Dd to DGDs (9 and 7) whilst out in a restaurant: "you must behave like grown ups here and have a grown up conversation. What shall we talk about?"
DGD: "I know! Car insurance!"

Youngest DGS was poorly with a tummy upset. I asked how he was, to which he replied 'I have learnt that when you have diarrhoea you mustn't fart'! The washing machine was chugging away in the background!

I was reading youngest GD her bedtime story when she lifted my hand and looked at my nails " we will need to clip them in the morning ", I wonder how many times her mummy has said that to her.

I was on a bus with DGD aged 2 on Thursday, a nice sunny day, when I heard her singing "Mr Blue Sky" (by ELO).

I phoned DGD this morning to wish her 'Happy Birthday'. I asked if she had had some nice presents this morning; she said 'Yes'.
I then asked what she had had and she said 'I'm not telling you, it's a surprise'.

I'll have to wait until later to find out

It's wonderful to see the world through the eyes of a child.

Walking 5 year old DGD to the school bus yesterday on a very blustery morning she remarked 'I've never see leaves running before'.

That's exactly what they looked like being blown along the road, mostly on their stem ends.

That's obviously what her DP said to her when she kept asking what she was having for her birthday present - 'It's a surprise'.
So it had to be a surprise for me too!

After being offered a crisp by a little boy, and saying No Thanks, he very seriously said, but I have washed them with soap and water.

I should be getting on with the ironing, but this is much more entertaining
