Appointment with orthopod resulted in a lot of prodding my shoulder, 'ouch' and he wants an x-ray done before making any decisions. Had my lower back and hip x-rayed today as I am still having problems after my accident last year. Physio appointment for that tomorrow as it has been decided acupunture may be worth trying. Moving on, GDs are coming to stay at ours on Saturday night so something to really look forward to.

Oh Nellie. How I envy you having those cuddles, especially when they snuggle into your neck and you get a sniff of that baby smell. Lovely. I met a friend for coffee this afternoon and she had her 11mnth old GS, Magnus, with her. Very happy baby who was quite content sitting on my lap and I was rewarded with a bye-bye cuddle and a gurgle

We say it every month Mishap. I know we shouldn't kill a pig unless there is an R in the month. (I do come from a family which used to rear, and eat, a pig from time to time.)

I'm just so pleased he is managing to make a living, and is so passionate about it, because he used to have such angst about it all when we talked, he really wasn't sure if he had the drive.

I always thought that 'white rabbits' was for months with 30 days; 'rabbits' for months with 31 days. I can't remember - or never knew - what worked for February. 'Piebald rabbits'?

A very happy first day of May day to all our Kitcheners The sun has shone since daybreak. I didn't need to do the ironing after all. Will do so on Monday, instead. We visited our dear pal in the care home. He has a Zen-like approach to life...and by gum, does he need it. Four new residents have joined the throng. I sat with the two lovely ladies (of whom I'm very fond) and we chatted about knitting and farming and the joys of memories related to a time when they were very much younger. We seem to have much the same conversation every week. Does it matter...No! The two ladies enjoy recalling a time when they were happy, busy and fit.

janerowena Christopher looks dishy. Funny thing is, when looking back, how a mate of my sons from boarding school days, has matured from being a long-haired "hell raiser" to become a first class surgeon/consultant. I still think of him as being a carefree lad...how time flies!

Dear POGS only you could get away with such a truism. Yes, the ladies still have memories to keep them smiling. It's those that don't that make me feel so sad. There were fifteen residents in the lounge. It's possible to hold a conversation with four. I'm afraid that the remainder had no idea where or who there were. My husband and I never fail to say...please, don't put me there... Old age can be very cruel. If only we could all have a whale of a time in our dotage. We deserve so much better than sitting alone in a chair staring into the abyss.

I'm off to feed the pussy cats. It's been a beautiful day...wall to wall sunshine. Aren't we the lucky ones. XXX

Pleasant days shopping with DW today, sat and watched the world go by with a coffee outside Costa. All went well until we headed home, an hour in a traffic jam due to an accident closing the A12.

End of first week in new job with Age UK, and I'm loving it!
Hopefully this weekend and Bank Holiday we'll get some sunshine, won't we?

Garden has been overtaken by forget-me-nots, I must yank some out or next year we'll sink under a sea of them. I love them but I have a few hundred too many

My hellebores had vanished for several years but strangely I seem to have a number of seedlings appearing, which I need to pot up, so plenty to do outside, weather permitting

I am also overrun with forget me not Loopylou and also bluebells. Sadly a lot of the latter are Spanish or hybrids so I do try to reduce them. I put them on the compost heap before they drop seeds and sometimes pull up their leaves to try and weaken them. I also pull up the forget me nots before they drop their seeds but I still have loads and loads of new seedlings.

LL, what are you doing at Age UK, I worked as a day centre carer for Age concern for 6 years.

I love forget me nots, but why can't I get them to seed where I want them ?

New job is a scheme supporting the elderly on discharge from hospital, for those not eligible for statutory services, all very new and exciting.

We are covering the whole county so will be kept busy, it's just what I love, face to face contact, and the plus of being able to work with volunteers for up to 6 weeks.

I've never had forget-me-nots before so another puzzle! Oddly they're only in a section of border that was previously lawn.

Loopy - I ran a research project into getting elderly people home from hospital when they had been assessed as needing nursing home care - it was very interesting and the elderly patients came up with some brilliant ideas. You are doing a worthwhile job - well done!
