soop I'd follow my husband to the ends of the earth and I have in the past, but the T-shirt I've got to show for it is a bit tight these days! The thing is, he'd mean all our money. He's a wild Scotsman BTW or at least he was, some of my rather more tame ways have rubbed off. Indeed we are each other's better half.

I think a skull-patterned bandanna would look really fetching on McSporran

soop joking apart, it does sound as though MacSporran should be covering his head to protect it when outdoors.

Our lovely Soop is one of the earliest member here and set up this page so we could all drop in for a friendly chat, support and a moan when we needed to, dont know what we would all do without her.

That was a brilliant idea SOOPS, everyone gathers in the kitchen, size of kitchen makes no difference. Definitely the heart of the home or GN in this case.

This kitchen expands to fit everyone, the cakes are calorie, gluten and fat free but taste divine. There is an ex-feral cat, a piano, panoramic sea views and the kettle is always on but there is also available should you want it.

Soop started this thread when there was lots of dissent on other threads so, needless to say, this is a haven from nastiness but full of support and love.

It is warm, cosy and lovely - just like a real kitchen - but better.

Hi HappyNan1, pleased you found the kitchen, it is a place to chill with friends. All contentious subjects are banned which makes it a bolt hole from time to time when things on the from get heated (although hopefully there won't be one of those "E" things for another few years).

HappyNan1 welcome. Have you met Rory the cat yet? He is real and rests on the sofa if he is not out in the garden supervising the work that MacSporran, soop's husband is carrying out.

I am not moaning about the heat here in London, around 26C because I will be complaining in 3 -4 months that I have the heating switched on.

I have just had a brief visit from my GD who went to hospital this morning to have the splint off her nose and the stitches removed from her nostrils,septum and re-repaired lip. Her nose is a triumph, she no longer looks as if she has done several rounds in a boxing ring. She has some bruising and very slight puffiness and the scar on her lip still looks red but the difference is great and one very relieved Gran gives enormous thanks to her plastic surgeon who has looked after for nearly 17 years.

annsixty I'm delighted to hear that your dear granddaughter is making such a good recovery. The plastic surgeon certainly deserves a special mention. Whenever I have had surgery, I write a letter of gratitude to the hospital and a send a copy to the local newspaper. It's good to acknowledge those who have made a positive contribution to one's stay in hospital.

MacSporran's scalp is even worse today. Never mind. Had it been zapped prior to our granddaughter's wedding... that would have made him feel very self-conscious.

We've been to the care home. Our pal (twin of the dear lady who died just a couple of weeks ago) seemed brighter than of late. I sat with my four favourite lady residents for part of the visit. A new resident was concerned because she had "lost" the five people who had brought her in. We searched the corridor together. When I mentioned this to a member of staff, he told me that she was a trifle "muddled". We therefore went back and sat with the four long-term residents. The entire conversation was aimed at suggesting where the "missing five" might be. In the end, we were all so befuddled that all we could do was laugh. The new lady then said...I've everything I need right here...and that seemed like the perfect moment to wish her farewell.

That's good news ann, you must both be delighted!

What McSporran needs is a long blonde wig, à la lady Godiva!

Just popped in to add my best wishes to everyone else's for MacSporran's good health. I hope his poor head isn't feeling sore as it heals. Maybe he would like a dashing straw hat. I've only just persuaded DH to wear one.

Just to say I think you are all lovely and I love the kitchen

Just back from 5 days in a cottage overlooking the Exe estuary in Devon. Lovely weather and lots of evenings (and days) spent on the tiny terrace reading and gazing over the water and lots of wonderful sunsets. I was brought up by the sea and will miss it! We were in the village where my gran lived and I spent all my summers there as a child - pure nostalgia.

Thank you all for your kind words. It has been a trying and emotional week but it has all been worthwhile. We hope for an easier time ahead for her.
