Ear worms.......

I have never heard the term ear worms. I passed this thread by as I have a weak stomach and wasn't up to reading about worms in people's ears. Then I braced myself and well, who would have guessed, not me, obviously.

Personally I'd rather have an ear worm than my incessant Tinnitus........

Last week DH said he'd read about some research into ear worms, in America, I think, but I wasn't really paying attention, unfortunately. Anyway, the upshot was that the best way of getting rid of them was by chewing - for quite a while, I think, so chewing gum rather that a biscuit, I imagine. Needless to say, I haven't been bothered by an ear worm since, so haven't tried it, but if anyone wants to give it a go and report back, feel free!

I wouldn't say the song was catchy, rather melancholy really, but it's amazing how you remember the ones that were the backdrop to your youth!

It's only really catchy tunes that do this isn't it,I once had I Got You Babe in my head for almost a week after watching Groundhog Day.

What a great term for these songs, I have never heard it before. I am never without one, even throughout the night it goes on. Currently it is 'Soldier Soldier, Won't you Marry Me' resulting from the thread on here about school singing. Before that it was 'Mares eat Oats', which I absolutely hate, and 'Up' by Olly Murs and Demi Lovato, which I actually do like.

I had just got rid of 'Down by the Riverside' when I stupidly read this thread, and now it's firmly back again.
