Your dream house

Anyway, to get back to topic, my ideal would be my current house, fully redecorated and renovated, (it is part timber framed 15C) and in need of some work. Gardens landscaped the way we would like them. A proper heating system and loo in my Craft room and fill in the b.........d swimming pool. That would make it just about perfect.

I'd move to live near you Bikergran. Housework is over-rated, trouble is I like a clean tidy house, just don't want to do it. I am lucky at the moment though, because hubby has allowed me to have my cleaner back for 3 hours every fortnight because my elderly parents are taking up a lot of my time.

is it just me but I enjoy house work,always have done.... I like to have good tools/hoover/cloths /polish etc, although at the mo my house is a tip, and can't afford to decorate it how I would like, but I would enjoy cleaning other peoples houses, providing they are of a decent standard, and not too cluttered, I once used to clean for a lady who lived in big farmhouse, elizabethan style house, they went away on holiday and let me loose, they were amazed when they got back! sent me flowers, pressies etc etc .It was all gleaming and shiny when they got back

Thanks GA. That's a lovely compliment. I love my house but sometimes think a change would be good. The house I am staying in here in France is just lovely - an old farmhouse Mas which has been totally gutted and has an ultra modern and minimalist interior. I am almost . The grass is always greener isn't it!

Mine exists but I haven't been there since I was 18, except to look at it. The inside is probably not as I remember it, but as this is a dream I shall keep it as it was. An old stone gentleman's farmhouse, four bedrooms. Two rather grand reception rooms at the front of the house, with a beautiful staircase between them, then a cosy back parlour with another enclosed staircase to the smaller back bedrooms. A large farmhouse kitchen complete with open fire and cooking range to cosy up to in winter. A small front garden with wicker chairs, looking out over the orchard and paddock. At 18 I was convinced I would live there one day.

I do love my house, but if I could plant Marmight's home in this location and add a couple of bedrooms I wouldn't say no.
Her home induced a certain amount of 'kitchen envy' in me! (And she has sea views!)

We were on holiday in Delabole just before the flood and a huge cloud came over (as it does in Delabole) and it poured and poured and poured. It just sat there for hours.

I know; I once lived next to the Pixie Shop that was swept away !

I am fortunate to live in my dream home, I chose the land, sea views on one side and hills on the other. The best bit is though, I designed my home, to suit our needs, we have in our house, even though its "not posh" every thing I ever wanted, its not to big , or to little, 3 bedrooms, en suite and utility.
I designed my Kitchen, I love it, and it works well because we enjoy cooking.
We have all the plugs and sockets we could ever need which is important to me as I hate wires on show.
As well as an excellent central heating system, we have a beautiful black Granite fireplace on which we burn peat.

A cottage in Boscastle overlooking the harbour. 2 minutes walk from the footpath which goes along the Valency River up to the Poosticks bridge leading to Minster church.

It would have sea views and not be too isolated. Large airy rooms, a big spacious kitchen (to make a change from my present galley one). Wooden floors, perhaps a conservatory, large bedrooms, at least one en suite, a walk in wardrobe, a pretty garden with lush lawns and well stocked borders, also a water feature, a summer house, Oh and someone else to clean and maintain it. Saying that, I rather like my little semi in the Birmingham suburbs with our large pretty garden and a canal running along the back of the house. Posh it isn't but we do our best with it and it's lovely listening to the ducks and geese as I am putting my washing out in the summer.

Kitty, I didn't want to say so- butz as you did- I love my house too. Due to the exchange rate, we had to wait 6 years to get the guest bathroom done... but it's finished now and 'just' have to tackle the decorating upstairs- which is going to be very hard work- and it's not OH's thing, so guess who??? And I'd love a new kitchen- but it will just have to wait, and perhaps never happen. Never mind- love this old monster all the same.

I love my house! But, we could do with a new roof and daren't even get quotes!

Oh, and I'd like the carpets cleaned (again!) and the decorating redone where the children have put grubby finger prints all over it. Apart from that, I'm happy where I am.

This one but with an access able back garden and a staircase that would take a stairlift right to the top.

An original Arts and Crafts house in the New Forest four bedrooms all with bathrooms. Large kitchen diner with treble black Aga. Large double aspect living room with real fire, Formal dining room. Treble garage with office space above. Outhouses for garden stuff, projects etc. 2 large greenhouses. Garden office room for writing in. Tennis courts, boules and croquet. Wrap around garden/ drive that sweeps in and out. Orchard and small paddock.

I know all this because I spend my lottery win over and over on it when I cant sleep.

Georgian would suit me, with underfloor heating (good shout numberplease) with wild gardens but someone to help with the organic veg patch as Him Indoors won't garden unless it involves cutting his way past an annoying bush.
Space for an arts studio for me and a tennis court for him.
A gentle stroll to a beach - or an electric bike ride away.
I want somewhere with no neighbours but room for family to come and camp in the garden once the spare bedrooms are full.

Thinking about it, if I tidied up this house I would have plenty of space for a studio in the garage and more bedroom space for visitors, and the neighbours are only on one side and aren't too bad but our 'garden' is roughly 7'x11'.
