Lovely to hear about your dgd's engagement soop sunshine I love a bit of romance! #Ishouldbesolucky!
I like the cushion too, I'm sure they'll be thrilled with it.

janerowena Fri 04-Sept-15 18:41:39

Yes, it's always lovely to hear about new romances - just as lovely as hearing about old ones that have lasted well. It restores our faith in humanity to hear of romantic proposals.

Thinking of dusty, what a shock.

annodomini Fri 04-Sept-15 19:37:03

Lovely news, soop. Does this mean a new wedding outfit any time soon and will we get the chance to approve it?

Cherrytree59 Sat 05-Sept-15 00:12:02

I would like to pass on My heart felt condolences to Dustyangel . The kitcheners seem a lovely bunch who share the ups + the downs. I was just wondering Soop if you have a lovely aga in your cosy kitchen to bake all those lovely [cakes]?

loopylou Sat 05-Sept-15 09:05:23

I'm so sorry to hear about your son Dustyangel, what a terrible shock. Virtual hug and love to you x

Lovely news of romances too, I take it this will mean new outfits and hats smile. I love that tartan heart too soop.

Off to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales next week, I'm fervently hoping for dry(ish) weather so keeping everything crossed. We're planning lots of walking and gawping at beautiful views but if it's wet/low cloud that won't be happening grin

soop Sat 05-Sept-15 12:51:47

A bright and breezy early afternoon to you lovely lot.

Cherrytree59 Let us say that we have a virtual Aga in the kitchen. Any colour preference? And, yes...I can smell the cakes and bread baking from here. wink

Lona janer and anno The happy couple will no doubt tell us when they hope to marry. I would think it might be sometime 2017. As for the hat and "stuff"...I shall of course ask for your expert opinions. Granddaughter's elder sister married recently. I shall add a photo of the granddaughter (recently engaged) in her bridesmaid's dress.

loopylou I have a feeling that the weather is beginning to settle. If so, you may enjoy the perfect blend of early autumn sunshine and rich colours of nature at just the right time. Don't forget to share photos with us.

Galen What are you up to? We need an update. wine

janerowena Sat 05-Sept-15 13:10:29

Yes Galen, where are you?

Soop- time to start planning the next outfit!

Charleygirl Sat 05-Sept-15 13:20:23

soop what a pretty girl and she looks radiant.

It is 13C and dull in London- I suspect that the heating will be switched on this evening while I enjoy Strictly followed by Casualty.

I cannot cope going from 25C to 13C in a matter of days. I am hoping that it will be dry when we move to the extended kitchen- I would think within 3 days.

Is Rory behaving? Tara leaves the house early am when I get up and I do not see her again until after 10pm. I have no idea where the little blighter goes. She is like a teenager with mum waiting at home, not wanting to go to bed until I see her appear- totally nonchalant.

soop Sat 05-Sept-15 13:36:25

smile

Charleygirl Rory is asleep (on a feather cushion) on the reclining chair, near the window. The sun is shining upon him. He rarely steps beyond the kitchen door. In fact, he'll sit on the mat and watch the birds feed all around him for over an hour at a time. If he hears MacS putting on his gardening gear...up he gets, yawn, stretch and he'll stay close to his most favourite person until they have "seen to" the garden. The only time the birds sense danger, is when Tortoiseshell or the sparrow hawk are lurking.

annodomini Sat 05-Sept-15 13:40:49

soop, she is a lovely girl and will make a beautiful bride. It's a lovely, slightly autumnal afternoon and was cool overnight. I switched to my mid-season duvet when I changed the sheets and have the option of fastening the summer one to it if we have a cold winter. I've just baked a batch of 'real Scottish' shortbread and will share it out among the neighbours. Fatal to eat it myself!

soop Sat 05-Sept-15 14:35:13

anno 'Real Scottish shortbread' aye! Before you share with the neighbours, leave a batch for us lot to virtually munch through. I would so love a piece right now with a freshly made brew.
Our granddaughter works for the Quality Care Commission...she is a "People Person" and extremely kind with it.
Yes, it is chillier at night. I have a lovely thick blanket that will lie on the bed tonight. I wonder when we shall need our hot water bottles. hmm

loopylou Sat 05-Sept-15 14:46:30

I've swopped summer duvet for 9 tog and dug out my winter clothes sad
I spent an hour out in the garden and it's a chilly wind.

You are all such a photogenic family soop, I hate having my photo taken. DD's the same, I've said that (God forbid) should she go missing there aren't any photos of her since she was 15!

dustyangel Sat 05-Sept-15 15:10:29

Galen posted on the 'Ive had enough' thread at about 9.50 this morning. She looks as though she is enjoying herself. smile

soop Sat 05-Sept-15 16:02:27

Warm hugs, loopylou
Thank you for updating us, dusty regarding that Galen. It's good to hear that she hasn't been marooned on some distant island. Obviously she's behaving herself. wink

pompa Sat 05-Sept-15 19:39:30

UGHHHH it that time of year again, the one I dread - Strictly has started.

janerowena Sat 05-Sept-15 19:48:36

Me too - I have so many friends who enjoy it that I have to keep quiet though. I thought I was doing a good job of hiding my lack of interest (although I can dance) but apparently not, as they didn't invite me to their Strictly Final party last year! grin For which I was exceedingly grateful.

Nelliemoser Sat 05-Sept-15 23:29:36

Hello! I just popped in for a late night drink. I have been lurking a bit lately. Peace and calm is what I need.

Galen is/was on a cruise liner somewhere. In European water is it? Well we hope she is still on't boat.

numberplease Sun 06-Sept-15 00:23:53

Oh dear, I LOVE Strictly!
Soop, your granddaughter is very pretty.
Charleygirl, and I thougt I was the only one with an unsociable cat! Mia goes out first thing, sometimes before she`s had breakfast, comes back sporadically during the day for meals, then off she goes again. Usually she`s in by 10pm, but a couple of times lately she`s kept me up waiting for her till 2.40am and 4.55am!

Galen Sun 06-Sept-15 09:45:09

I'm still afloat! In a hot sunny Monaco atm. Toulon tomorrow.
Love to all you lot!smilesunshine

Charleygirl Sun 06-Sept-15 11:00:38

numberplease normally Tara is super glued to me. I am hoping that it was the warm weather which started this unsociable behaviour months ago and when it becomes cold she may stay indoors more as she loves her creature comforts.

Yesterday was colder so madam came home at lunchtime for a bite to eat and then 40 winks. She appeared at 6pm and I decided that she was not going out again or she may well spend the entire night outside as she had been fed and watered.

Galen I am rather jealous that it is hot and sunny where you are!. It is sunny here in NW London but not very warm.

soop Sun 06-Sept-15 12:13:09

pompa and janer I agree with you. *MacSporran and I have better things to do. I have just started a new portrait of a much-loved, much-missed Collie dog. Arty-farty hat at the ready and painting "stuff" clutter the so-called studio. wink

Galen Bravo! Have yourself a fabulous cruise.

Hello Nellie I am also a lover of peace and quiet. It is a little less chilly today. In fact, I believe we are due for some sunny days early next week. That would be a bonus.

number and Charleygirl Our cats are unique. They live the life that suits them best. This morning, after our daily stroll, Rory decided to vacate his tartan rug and sat between us in the kitchen. He stared and made a weird whinging sound. MacS asked me...is this the same cat that lived rough and walked several miles each day (along the verge of a busy road) to hunt for food? Rory mews at this point in the daily conversation. He then moves to the cupboard in which his food is stored and waits...That cat is amazing. He really does have a butler and a maid servant. Mia and Tara and Rory are possibly the canniest cats on Gransnet. grin

Charleygirl Sun 06-Sept-15 13:07:52

Rory looks in that photo as though he has been in a few fights.

I agree, our 3 cats are well aware that each has 24/7 room service.

Crafting Sun 06-Sept-15 14:33:21

Galen I delved in the wardrobe for a nice warm jumper this morning as I was so cold. I just want you to know I am not at all jealous of you on your cruise. Not at all. envy envy

soop Sun 06-Sept-15 16:49:18

Crafting sunshine and all that...smile

The portrait is not coming along well. I have re-sketched three different images. I get to a certain point with the early washes and then I muck things up. It has been a while since I last used my paints. It's almost as if I need to re-teach myself...and I am not a patient pupil. wink

kittylester Sun 06-Sept-15 17:04:49

But I bet you are a good teacher soop!
