Yes, the groom is indeed a hunk, other photos show it better but I did get fed up with shrinking down photos. So sorry to hear about your problems, soop. We are all just walking lists of ailments, aren't we, once we are over 40 or so. Is that your gunnera flowers? I lost mine a couple of years ago, maybe I shall plant another when the pond has been cleared out again.

janerowena Wed 02-Sept-15 19:52:51

I have downsized the hunky groom, this is how I often see him, with a cheeky grin. Hunky AND really nice.

Crafting Wed 02-Sept-15 21:47:42

What lovely photos janerowna. Looks like a really nice day.

Soop sorry to hear you're going to need another op. I should think you've got enough going on at the moment without that. flowers although on secon thought perhaps a wee dram would be of more use. smile

So sorry you`re needing another op Soop, I`d come to visit if I lived a bit nearer.

Elegran Thu 03-Sept-15 12:19:23

Any tea going? It's not my usual beverage but I am in need of a brew to recover from a mauling by righteous Mumsnetters. They seem to think I am pro-rape. cupcake would go down well too.

Bellasnana Thu 03-Sept-15 12:32:39

There is always tea and sympathy (and cupcake ) in soop's kitchen. I will join you Elegran. Don't let the Mumsnetters get you down smile

Don't know if anyone has heard that our lovely Dustyangel, who has been so wonderfully kind and supportive to me during my troubles, is suffering from the shocking news that her son has died. My heart aches for her and family. So, so sad sad flowers

dustyangel Thu 03-Sept-15 16:31:55

Thank you all for your lovely messages of support and flowers. Think of me as sitting on the chaise longue (how do you spell it?) enjoying the view, catching up with your news and leafing through the photographs.

Two bits of my own good news to share. I spoke to my younger granddaughter today for the first time in ten years and my gorgeous older granddaughter has brought her equally gorgeous Maltese boyfriend to stay with us.

soop hmm this is not the first time you have done this to me. What could your news be I wonder hmm hmm

My DH collected a package from the post office today. He said it was something for me but would not tell me what it is. I still don't know and he won't tell me when I'm going to get it either!!!

soop Fri 04-Sept-15 14:55:14

Hello to all our lovely Kitcheners.

dustyangel we are with you in spirit. It is heartening to hear that you also have some welcome news.

Crafting Oh do tell us what is in the package once you've opened it. I'm such a nosy mare. wink

My good news is that our granddaughter has become engaged to a truly lovely man. They met some time ago, when they were working through their "gap years" in the south of France. When our granddaughter returned home, her then "good friend" decided that he would also move from Rotterdam (his home) to be nearer to GD. After a spell of meeting on the occasional weekend, they then moved together to Bristol. They also managed to find good jobs that they enjoy. Out of the blue...so to speak, GD's "best friend" took her on a short holiday back to the very campsite where they first met. He had also invited the close friends that they had worked alongside during that far away summer. On the 2nd of this month, a surprise candle-lit party on the beach had been organised. During the happy gathering, the "best friend" got down on one knee and proposed marriage to our granddaughter. They are so RIGHT for each other. He is 29 and she will be 24 next birthday. Happy news. Happy smiles. Happy outcome. sunshine

I'm about to wrap a wee gift for her. A beautiful tartan cushion, handmade in Kintyre. x

I shall photograph it and share with you. x

soop Fri 04-Sept-15 14:59:28

Here is the cushion.

Oh dear, good news sad news day. Soop I am so sorry to hear you will need another op, but if you need it, you need it. Good news about macSporran and even better lovely news about your DGD.
Dustyangel, sending your sincere condolences, and Elegran you can come out now!! We will look after you, you did get a bit of a kicking from MN, they can be very " black and white" can't they? I certainly did not read your comments as pro-rape!

Feeling very tired at the mo, DD is working 13 hour days at the Royal in Northampton on "Brave New World" which premieres this weekend. Only largely down to a dithering possibly unhurried director, they are running very late with the technical rehearsal this week (despite working Sunday and BH Monday) and will be lucky to be doing the dress rehearsal tonight which should have been a preview! I drive her up to Northampton for 9 every morning and pick her up at 10.15/10.30. Tonight is likely to be even later
She is exhausted and I am not used to getting up at 7 any more! Nice to be able to help though.

Bellasnana Fri 04-Sept-15 16:51:15

Wonderful news, soop and a very romantic proposal. I wish them a lifetime of health and happiness together flowers sunshine smile

dustyangel Fri 04-Sept-15 17:44:39

Lovely news about your granddaughter soop, I'm sure she will treasure your gift. Does this mean we will have the chance to choose advise on another wedding outfit soon?

Charleygirl Fri 04-Sept-15 18:06:56

Lovely to hear a little bit of happiness soop. There has been so much sadness on this thread recently.

soop Fri 04-Sept-15 18:27:35

Us lot are here to share both happy, disappointing and distressing events that are bound to happen to any one of us at some time or other. In a perfect world it would be all smiles and non-stop celebrations. A perfect world it is not.

I felt so sad for dustyangel yesterday. I knew that it wouldn't have been the right time to share my happy news. I'm so pleased that dusty has support from her family. I wish her some well-deserved peace of mind throughout this traumatic time.

I've just noticed that we are about 50 messages short of another "full house". You lot are quite wonderful. I am so thankful to have your companionship on a regular basis. flowers

moon Until tomorrow.
