Packing for holidays

I used to buy new undies to take on holiday. Now, if I'm flying, and concerned about weight limit on the return trip, I take the 'nearly past it' undies on holiday, and throw them away whilst there. This limits the washing when you get home too (and a case load of dirty stuff) - and you have new undies to indulge in when you get home. I suppose this depends on who you go on holiday with ...

Fed up with ironing at the moment.

Grannyjacq1 that's just what I wanted to do when we went to the States several years ago but DH was so horrified at the thought of me leaving my old knickers in the hotel wastepaper basket that he refused to let me do it!

Haven't even started yet. I'm working tomorrow and Wednesday, so will sort clothes on Thursday and pack on Friday.

I am assuming you'll be upriver of us?

My ticket says we're at Mayflower terminal.but it can change to Ocean.

You're downriver so we won't be ships that pass in the afternoon!

Oh! I even ironed the shawl this afternoon.

We have been known to be moved to ocean which is downriver of city. Look at ship directions when you get to the port.. It'll tell you which terminal we're in.

Travel with children; you will travel light, managing with half a suitcase. The children on the other hand, well their stuff takes up the rest of the boot of the car.

I take shoes for the beach, my everyday walking boots shoes and wellies (for the beach in the oh so British rain)

I use walking trousers which dry really quickly, and lots of layers of clothes that all match (just about)

It also helps to not care too muich about what one looks like.

Hello galen I am nearly at the kitchen sink stage. Thanks for the mobile I will PM you mine. We have had an email to say some of the gates are closed due to S'hamton boat show - no 10 is open and one other.

I'm getting better at packing. I used to take far too much footwear and include clothes that I rarely wear at home so why would I wear them on holiday?

Now, I try to keep things simple - except if we're holidaying here and take the car, in which case I can't resist the temptation to take all sorts of stuff - picnic rugs and plastic picnic sets for the picnics that we rarely have, foldable chairs, DVDs, CDs, sketch pads, paints, etc.

I have a pile on the spare bed and that's as far as I've got. It's the bits and pieces that take the time and the room. Thank goodness for kindles and I pads, in the past I used to pack about six books.
