Unwanted phone call

I have just received a call from someone saying they were from a company called Clean Green saying I qualified for a free check on my doors and windows. I never take up these "free" offers but what concerned me was he knew my name, my address and the fact that I own my property. I have reported the call to ICO but when are these calls going to be outlawed.

sunseeker....sometimes these people make lucky guesses. A name and address is easy to access and he has a 50/50 chance of knowing you are the owner. Try not to see this as a personal approach...you are just one out of thousands...these people are working to quotas, they are slick and thick skinned. You've done the right thing not to engage with them, now just forget it.

Your name and address will be on the electoral roll. Your street may be all owner-occupied, or they could find how much your house was sold for the last time it was on the market from www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices.html and others.

I get lots of these. Someone rang me the other day and asked if I would like them to come and clean my oven! The cheek of it. My oven is always gleaming clean grin
