Apologies if this has already been done! Mine was Paul Anka's 'Diana' - 'I'm so young and you're so old ...'

Les Paul and Mary Ford, ''How high the moon.'' Still love it.

bags I could have been at that concert. I went to the Halle a lot at that time.
I have an LP of Sibelius Symphony No 5, the Karelia Suite and Finlandia. Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra Eric Tuxen/ Thomas Jensen.

There was a large paperback reference book available at the time, a guide to classical LPs, a bit like a musical Good Food guide.

Yeah, well, I'm dead classy, me wink

1961 Bobby Vee's Rubber Ball.

Blimey bags that's a bit classy!

Sibelius Fifth Symphony and Karelia Suite. I've forgotten which orchestra but I'd been to hear the Hallé playing it in Manchester. Thinks... that would have been in 1973.

Blimey, I`d forgotten EPs existed! My first one was from the Elvis film, Follow that Dream.

Sorry for losing the plot, but I just had to tell you about my first E P which was Tommy the Toreador in 1959. I still have the cover but not the record.

HMHNanna Sat 07-Nov-15 22:24:04

Absolutely, Not Too Old , me too. They were the proper terry nappies then, not the clutter up the bins ones that they use now!!

dorothybain4 Sat 07-Nov-15 20:30:34

A girl like you, by Cliff Richard....played it on my mums radiogram, as we didn't yet have a record player!

NotTooOld Sat 07-Nov-15 20:19:55

Thank you, HMHNanna. 1958, was it? Well, I would have been.......er.......very young indeed! Probably still in nappies...................confused

HMHNanna Sat 07-Nov-15 19:41:54

Born too late, was released in 1958 by the Poni-Tails.

NotTooOld Sat 07-Nov-15 17:58:01

Ooh, yes, Sue162, Diana was another of my favourites. I didn't actually buy it, though as any money I had at that young age (not much) I spent on clothes.

Does anyone remember 'Born Too Late'? I can't remember who it was by. My DH has Radio Caroline on a lot and they often play it on there.

Sue162 Sat 07-Nov-15 17:09:37

Debbie Reynolds "Tammy" in 1957 but it was Paul Anka's Diana that led me to fall in love with him! I was thirteen. smile smile

Oklahoma with D'Oyley Carte singing

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 07-Nov-15 04:44:30

I'm pretty sure the first record I bought was by Ricky Nelson, but I can't for the life of me remember what the song was. I've still got all my 48s somewhere. One day, like an idiot, I decided to chuck away all the covers, which totally wrecked any value they might have had now. hmm

I remember the record JamJar, but can`t remember who recorded it. I would dearly love to get my hands on a copy of Elvis`s The American Trilogy, the whole thing, not just the one single, I seem to remember it wa in a black sleeve, with gold or silver lettering.

JamJar1 Fri 06-Nov-15 23:54:55

WilmaK grin I could listen to that song so many times over.
Does anyone remember the song "In the year 2525"? It used to depress me no end, I was pre teenage and convinced we were all going to be wiped out by a nuclear bomb as I was living near two American air bases.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 06-Nov-15 23:35:17

On The Street Where You Live was from My Fair Lady - wonderful songs! grin

Jamjar1 I played Without You on repeat and drove my family bananas. I used to lie on my bed and sing howl along to it! grin

My first record player was my Grandad's old one. He gave it to me when they bought a stereogram. We didn't have a record player until then and it sat on my little dressing table completely covering the top. I thought I was the bee's knees! grin

AlgeswifeVal Fri 06-Nov-15 22:49:37

First record I brought was a '78 'called 'on the street where I live' sung by Vic Damon. Does anyone remember it ?

LilyBlue Fri 06-Nov-15 19:09:08

You've lost that loving feeling. The Righteous Brothers. Still love it.

rosequartz Fri 06-Nov-15 18:17:46

Pat Boone - yes, my friend and I loved him.
Love Letters in the Sand.

rosequartz Fri 06-Nov-15 18:16:32

I saw Peter and Gordon at a concert once
'A World Without Love' - remember that?
They were terrible, everyone walked out.

Anan Fri 06-Nov-15 18:15:22

Jailhouse Rock and Heartbreak hotel by the King. I thought the 78 would be worn through because of the number of times I played it. Still remember the words!!

NotTooOld Fri 06-Nov-15 18:12:13

Did you jane? That must have been an experience. At the time I preferred Debbie Reynolds but I have wised up over the years!

janeainsworth Fri 06-Nov-15 18:10:20

FBI - the Shadows.

NotTooOld I saw Bonzo Dog at a concert at UMIST once - must have been 1968 or 69. They were amazing!
