Tips on remembering things?

Ringing your mobile phone to find it works well....except when you have forgotten to charge it :-(

This won't work if your phone battery is dead. But you can use the "find iPhone" app from another iPhone to locate yours in the house, office, under the car seat, etc. My DD is a pro at this. She also tracks when DH (and his iPhone) leave work, and when to expect him home. No need to call him while he is driving.

My failure is eyeglasses. I seem to lose every pair every day. I need a tiny gps sticker that works from an iPhone app!

This is my "mantra" - when you can't find something, more often than not it is where you think it should be.......

With me it's Blue tack. I lose it every Christmas when I want to stick Christmas cards on the door.

Spent an hour yesterday looking for it. I seem to put it in different safe places and then I can't remember where the safe place is.

When I go out I spend at least two minutes checking to see if everything is safe.

I have set places to leave keys, glasses etc only to find them moved by a"helpful" hubby who thinks he knows a better place........and my daily exercise is going up and down stairs 100 times for things I can't remember what they are once I am up there

My set places more or less work although I'm not very tidy. It's a slightly haphazard method but works most if the time.

Hahaha! My son stuck a note on my front door some months ago which says 'HAVE YOU GOT YOUR PHONE?', as my children always got exasperated trying to get hold of me when out, having left my mobile at home! It worked for a while, but I no longer notice it any more. I also forget where I have left it, and keep on ringing my mobile from my house phone and follow the noise!

Braganza I'm the same as you regarding 'not seeing' reminders after a while! Familiarity, I suppose Haven't thought of a solution yet .....

I used to keep blu-tak in a lump stuck to the inside door of a kitchen cupboard until one day the lump had got too big, or there was too much stuff in the cupboard. I opened the door and a pile of saucers hurtled out onto the floor - having been rammed up against said lump.

A young lass at work taught me the MM?M mantra - Missing Mug? Microwave. In our house this never fails. My other tip is to create a box labelled as 'A Safe Place' and sit it somewhere prominent and permanent. Useful for nextdoor's spare keys, event tickets, Christmas Card list. I think I've cracked the handbag problem by having a small bag with essentials and car/house keys clipped on which pops into whichever full sized handbag I am using that day.

Day to day items have their place and, unless my DP has moved something, I can generally find them. Phone is a nightmare as I frequently forget to make sure I have it with me (it's not an IPhone, so only used for calls & texts). Have had to ring it from the land line on many occasions,

My problem is books. I have hundreds; I have a sort of system for shelving them but if I want a particular book can I lay my hands on it? No.. I also have a few duplicates as I sometimes forget that I already own the book that is being reviewed or I see in a bookshop.

Also, of course, things I don't use very often and which have been put in a safe place...the other day I found the seeds that I had hunted high and low for in the spring.

I agree, if I have to be somewhere important get all ready before.

I lose things all the time and actually I am more likely to lose them if I tidy up and put them away somewhere. If I leave things where I last had them then I can find them. If I put something away it could be anywhere. I am currently searching for a sun hat that sat happily on my bookcase for months after my last holiday until I had a tidy up and put it away somewhere. Wish I'd left it where it was!

I'm afraid that I'll forget to go to a meeting or appointment - I use the calendar on my iPad but don't always check it, so as I am at my best at night, before I go to bed I leave a note by the kettle of what I have to do next day including any shopping I need, if I need to take something with me I put it by the door do that I'll fall over it. If I need to take something from the fridge or my iPad (which I charge overnight), I write a note to get them and stick it on top of my handbag to remind me. If I need to go out before 10 I set an alarm as otherwise I may get up too late to be ready. My phone is the biggest problem, I have one place for it indoors but somehow seem to need to ring it at least once a week to find it. I am not yet 70 and my sister is horrified that I need to do all this at my age.

Only once a week starbird ? I certainly wouldn't worry !

I keep a list stuck inside tea/coffee cupboard door listing friends/regular visitors preferences for tea/coffee/sugar/ milk etc. saves asking every time.
