I am sure that Ariel doesn't eat fish - after all it would be a kind of cannabilism.
I don't think she would eat any seafood that can speak or sing as they are all friends grin
Probably seaweed and algae - possibly plankton - i don't think plankton sing?

I must ask DGDs if I can borow their Little Mermaid dvd

Goes away singing 'Under the 'Sea' la la la

Shame we can't ask Hans Christian Anderson as he knew all about merpeople.

I think veggie is most likely.

Some sea weeds make a vegetarian gelatine and I suppose they could do jellyfish in aspic. Maybe undersea volcanoes produce hot water funnels to boil things. Bouillabaisse in giant clam shells. Dead whales might produce a stomach that they could stuff like a haggis.no need to add salt .

grin that question made me think of DD, she is notorious for her "randomness"
I have it on good authority that they eat shell fish and certain seaweeds.

Well it would have to be raw wouldn't it as they must have very limited cooking facilities. I think they would eat fish as I don't agree with Leticia inasmuch as many humans do eat their fellow land creatures.

Oysters sound good to me and some kinds of seaweed....

Except for those who have decided to spice up the dull algae with a few clams and mussels etc. They use empty mussel shells at o scoop the flesh from sea urchins.

I think they would be vegetarian ( can't see them eating fellow sea creatures) and live on seaweed and algae.
