Alea The boys really are the best. All very handsome. Especially the wee ones. They all look to be on their best behaviour. Such sweet expressions. The little blond-haired boy is so like our youngest grandson.

I've done the ironing. Sketched the marmalade-coloured cat and am about to close the computer for another day.

Thank you for your companionship. I am beginning to feel less down-in-the-dumps. News that convoys of aid will be going into areas of Syria that are in serious need of food and vital medicines, is hopeful. Hope has lightened my mood.

I shall now pedal away on the exercise bike for 20 minutes. After which, I shall read the daily paper. After which, I shall enjoy a sloe gin and tonic with ice and a slice of lime.

I wish all our Kitcheners a pleasant evening.

5 hours in A&E, two sets of blood tests, both more or less fine , or at least with no indication of an issue with liver function, and they have no idea what DH's "liver"pain is.
Best suggestion they could come up with was for us to ring the Royal Free on Monday and see if they can bring DH's appointment forward.
There are more productive ways of spending a Saturday afternoon , but maybe DH's mind will have been put at rest.

Uncertainty and worry are so debilitating for every one. I hope now you have peace of mind.

There IS a problem, I am sure.
This all sounds like an episode DH had about 3 years before his original liver disease was diagnosed. That was over 30 years ago and without a previous history there was no reason to think it was anything other than indigestion at the time.
Since then he had his transplant and all has gone well, but about 8 years ago he was told the disease has appeared in his new liver, but apparently not as aggressively.
Bit of a BGR but one of those things. From the initial diagnosis to liver failure was a period of about 11 years so we have been hoping that with medical knowledge and good management, things will progress more slowly this time as another transplant is not a possibility.
Life goes on!

Bloods didn't flag anything up Galen, the doctor momentarily suggested gallstones, then blushed as he realised just as DH said he doesn't have a gall bladder!(removed along with the old liver)

My dgc2 due at the end of May is a boy, a little brother for DGS, am ridiculously excited already silly Nonna as DGS would say ?

Alea The pain that your husband is experiencing is real, therefore, there is a problem. Galen suggested that the source could be Pancreatic. She is often correct. My sister experienced agonising pain in the area of her liver. After much consultation with experts in A&E and many tests done when admitted to hospital, it was apparent that she had Pancreatitis. Our thoughts are with you. Please keep us updated.

You are all aware that Rory (who was not to be allowed into the house) now rules it with an iron paw.

I asked MacSporran - did you sleep well? He replied - eventually. I asked - what had been a problem? He replied - I was about to fall asleep when I heard Rory scrabbling in the litter tray. I therefore went to empty it. He (Rory) jumped up on to the top of the boiler, knocking off the towels that were being aired. I tidied up. Eventually got to sleep. At two o'clock, Rory jumped on me. He then paddled with his paws (the sign that he was hungry.) I got up to feed him. He ate and then jumped on me yet again and wanted fussing. I fussed him. We both got to sleep an hour later.

I laughed!

Hello kitcheners with or without buggerations - I love it!!

I have recently typed two long posts and then been unable to send them - that's a buggeration of a small magnitude not the large magnitude ones that Ann, Alea and Lona and others are experiencing.

Ann, have you contacted AgeUk or any of the Alzheimer's charities to ask for a sitter? A friend of mine used to do that as a volunteer.

One of my brothers went to visit Mum yesterday and found her to be terribly unwell. As we have 2 DGC with us for the weekend, my other brother went to see her in the pm. She was so bad that he stayed until midnight listening to her talking about being ready to meet the angels. He went back this morning and she was sitting up in bed eating a yogurt and reminding people that she is 92 next week.

Some of you will remember that she was ill last Christmas and New Year and I fully expect her to disrupt the next one too.

The past couple of weeks have been so stressful that I have been eating bacon butties washed down with at any given opportunity.

Lona, I think it's what most of us do isn't it - just getting on with it. But hopefully, anyone suffering buggerations will keep coming into the kitchen to unburden themselves.

kitty Your mother is a tough lady. I can well imagine how stressed and worn out you must be with all that's going on at the moment. Carry on with the butties and if it helps. Us lot send virtual hugs by the score.

Buggeration day here as well. Got up early to go to archery as my new bow was ready to try out.
Almost turned back as I was met with a solid wall of hail!
Got to shoot and started doing the registration, coach arrived and he went to get my bow out of his van! He'd put the wrong one in! Grrrr!

My buggerations at the moment are my blooming knees! Well, in particular the left knee - annoying as it can be no problem for ages then stressing it by doing certain activities (walking down hills for example) sets it off. This of course is nothing compared to what other Kitcheners are experiencing either with themselves or their loved ones.
