Not " classically" good looking, but attractive nevertheless.

Was watching Harry Potter last night with the weans, and it reinforced my opinion that Alan Rickman is a very attractive man. This also applies to Gordon Ramsay ( in my opinion) . For women, I think Zoe Wannamaker is an attractive woman.

. Who are your " mibbe not classic, but they ring my bell" people?

Michael Kitchen,yes very attractive,

I've always liked the sort of woman that the French describe as jolie-laide - she's perhaps ugly if you take her feature by feature, but oh boy! The overall effect is stunning. The idea has been stretched beyond all belief by Vogue, where they take reasonably acceptable woman and make them look like hell on wheels...

Zoe Wanamaker? Magnetic! Alex Kingston? Wow!

I can'tt help but think it funny that Alan Rickman has everybody here breathing heavily when I think of his fist major TV rôle. as the egregious Rev Obadiah Slope in The Barchester Chronicles - he was quite wonderful - and wonderfully repellent!

Can I add Michael Kitchen and Roger Allam (he has a lovely lived-in face) to my list?

I used to think that William Conrad, who played Frank Cannon all those years ago, was lovely, despite being quite tubby, and not over tall.

If we are going to mention late men how about William Powell or was he considered handsome? hmm

Anniebach Sat 05-Dec-15 23:05:11

I do like John Humphries smile, and for sheer lust Denzil Washington please

I would agree with most of those named above (not Gordon Ramsey).

I do think that an 'odd quirkiness' in looks is very attractive.

I like man looks - not overworked handsomeness (is that a word ??)

Marmark1 Sat 05-Dec-15 22:50:52

Gordon Ramsey attractive ?,? Have you something wrong with your eyes?

Ana Sat 05-Dec-15 22:13:23

She was a character, wasn't she?

Deedaa Sat 05-Dec-15 21:53:00

Alan Rickman or Patrick Stewart would do for me, both got lovely voices. I was always a big fan of the late Rosalie Crutchley, although I think it was the voice again that did it for me.

Envious Sat 05-Dec-15 21:40:31

I think Kevin Spacey is attractive but recently found out he wouldn't think I was. tchshock

Envious Sat 05-Dec-15 21:37:31

You ladies know im a Martin Clunes fan. tchgrin

Ana Sat 05-Dec-15 21:23:18

Ooh yes, I'd forgotten Stellan Skarsgard!

Greyduster Sat 05-Dec-15 21:21:38

Stellan Skarsgard; Kevin Spacey; and oddly, Toby Jones!

Ann Marie Duff; Laura Kuensberg; Nicola Walker.

annodomini Sat 05-Dec-15 21:15:38

Patrick Stewart.... end of!

grumppa Sat 05-Dec-15 21:11:00

Zoe Wanamaker yes; Barbara Streisand never. Emma Thompson certainly.

POGS Sat 05-Dec-15 20:37:48

Barbera Streisand .Not a classic beauty but has that something. Doesn't ring my bell but just saying. grin

Definitely Glennister, it's the masculine thing I think.

Gabriel Byrne, now your talking.

I was watching a programme recently about operatic tenors and the presenter showed clips of the late Dietrich Fischer-Diskau. They were the same clips that I used to thrill to as an impressionable 16 year old. Almost unconsciously I found myself leaning towards the television absolutely drawn in, but whether, then as now, I was more beguiled by the voice or the looks I am not sure.

Mark Rylance. So wanted to see him in London but didn't manage to get there.

Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy as well

Maggiemaybe Sat 05-Dec-15 19:12:07

Oh, he is, KatyK...till he opens that big gob tchgrin

KatyK Sat 05-Dec-15 19:10:28

roses My DH says Zoe Wanamaker is strange looking but he finds her attractive. Now where did I put my tin hat .......I think Russell Brand is attractive. tchsmile

Maggiemaybe Sat 05-Dec-15 18:41:42

I didn't realise that I'd have to fight quite so many people for Alan Rickman. I'm 9 years younger, starbird, so fancy my chances grin

starbird Sat 05-Dec-15 18:19:32

Just googled Alan Rickman as didn't know the name, yes he can go on my list! Born the same year as me which means he would be looking at someone 10-20 years younger!

Teetime Sat 05-Dec-15 17:55:07

Alan Rickman - yes please.

I think if a man has an attractive voice, smiles readily and has a GOS he doesn't need to be classically handsome - that's what I tell DH anyway- we cant both be stunning! smile

Ana Sat 05-Dec-15 17:22:26

Agree about Alan Rickman and Bill Nighy - but Benedict Cumberbatch...? No thanks! tchshock
