Was watching Harry Potter last night with the weans, and it reinforced my opinion that Alan Rickman is a very attractive man. This also applies to Gordon Ramsay ( in my opinion) . For women, I think Zoe Wannamaker is an attractive woman.
. Who are your " mibbe not classic, but they ring my bell" people?
I've always liked the sort of woman that the French describe as jolie-laide - she's perhaps ugly if you take her feature by feature, but oh boy! The overall effect is stunning. The idea has been stretched beyond all belief by Vogue, where they take reasonably acceptable woman and make them look like hell on wheels...
Zoe Wanamaker? Magnetic! Alex Kingston? Wow!
I can'tt help but think it funny that Alan Rickman has everybody here breathing heavily when I think of his fist major TV rôle. as the egregious Rev Obadiah Slope in The Barchester Chronicles - he was quite wonderful - and wonderfully repellent!
Alan Rickman or Patrick Stewart would do for me, both got lovely voices. I was always a big fan of the late Rosalie Crutchley, although I think it was the voice again that did it for me.
I was watching a programme recently about operatic tenors and the presenter showed clips of the late Dietrich Fischer-Diskau. They were the same clips that I used to thrill to as an impressionable 16 year old. Almost unconsciously I found myself leaning towards the television absolutely drawn in, but whether, then as now, I was more beguiled by the voice or the looks I am not sure.
roses My DH says Zoe Wanamaker is strange looking but he finds her attractive. Now where did I put my tin hat .......I think Russell Brand is attractive.
Just googled Alan Rickman as didn't know the name, yes he can go on my list! Born the same year as me which means he would be looking at someone 10-20 years younger!
I think if a man has an attractive voice, smiles readily and has a GOS he doesn't need to be classically handsome - that's what I tell DH anyway- we cant both be stunning!
