Christmas Prep - how's it going?

We had one of those too, Galen. Southampton had actually closed and our P&o ship,just rode it out in the Bay. We looked around at breakfast and were surprised to see nobody else there! The crew were fed up because they had flights booked to the Phillipines and would miss the. Felt so sorry for them. Quite an experience.

Presents all bought, presents wrapped none
Cards all written, cards posted none
Most of non perishable goodies bought
Lots of things in the freezer
Decs out the loft and being done this weekend.
I'm feeling good about all that but still feel ba humbug.

Really organised at first, then hit a lull which I am in the midst of at the moment

Some of the e-shopping is done, a couple of GSs still to buy for. Why do people complicate matters by having birthdays in December? Tickets for journeys to and from DSs have been bought. Tiny tree already up because I had a visitor at the weekend. Some cards done and distributed locally; e-cards still to do and goodness-knows how many to be posted. Tomorrow I might be organised.

IT was force 10 in the bay last time I did it. We diverted from Lisbon to Vigo as the waves were to high to let us get into Lisbon. For some reason the captain ( cunard's only lady driver) was worried about grounding the keel in the wave troughs.

GC's gifts are bought but not wrapped, nobody else gets a gift.

My lifelong dream has been a walk and a picnic on Chriatmas Day, Loopy but it's not going to happen. Not bah humbug at all. The thing about gransnet I like is that so many people feel the same. I've always felt guilty for not getting "into" it but it's reassuring to know I'm not alone. So I'll be going through the motions, helped by my comparatively new little ones who are just old enough to feel some wonderment.
Galen have a lovely cruise. We did that route in October, out to the Azores and back to Madeira, Canaries, etc. nice and bumpy in The Bay ! Have a wonderful time.

Seriously though. Sil's relations are all over the far side of the country and want to see him and the children, so me buggering off cruising independently saves worry all round. (And I enjoy it. No cooking, clearing up etc)

I have bought some presents then saw some more nice bits all without writing a list sooooooo.....now I have no idea who's getting what and need to start again by writing the list
DH eventually dug cards out of the attic, so need to--pull my finger out-- write them.
Not thought about food, seriously considering whether I wouldn't prefer going for a long walk and having a picnic on a beach instead of faffing about with a roasted whotssit. Tomato soup, hot sausages in rolls and a luxury pud sounds really good to me. Will sound out DH and DD this evening.
Roll on 1 January when it's all over [bah humbug]

Bah humbug says grumpy Granny

Presents all bought and wrapped, castle and marble run for two of the DGS assembled after 6 ruddy hours and much swearing, easy cards (that don't need letters in) posted, local cards in pile waiting for DH to deliver (his main Christmas job), cake done and marzipanned, some decorations up (most still in boxes), tree and new lights still at Garden Centre till next week. Food delivery ordered for 22nd. Booze stocks checked. And lots of lists written (some already mislaid). Grandsons wound up to peak of Christmas frenzy.

Actually I have bought a M&S Christmas cake, and a second bottle of Baileys( the first one didn't last long.)

It's going very well, mainly because I haven't done anything so far!December and all things Christmassy have naughtily crept up on me this year, but I have given myself a good telling off and will get to grips with it in the next week.

Just to the Canaries over Xmas on Queen Victoria from Southampton. It's a short one, just 12 days. Couldn't get the disabled room on the Elizabeth which does the xmas and New year.

As DD and the GSs come on Boxing Day, I have been known to wrap the odd present or two of theirs on Xmas Day. That does.feel a bit bad! Must keep up with it this year. Say that every year though.

Where are you going galen?

Galen obviously the most important things first. Where are you going this trip?

Some gifts bought none wrapped. Cards waiting to be written. No decorations yet or for another week. Some food bought. Christmas cake and puddings made.

No panic, it all gets done in the end and if it doesn't heigh ho !

I'm cruising next week and as usual haven't even thought about packing yet! To complicate things I normally lay everything out on the spare double bed.
However! Darling daughter and her husband have decided to visit this weekend with my two dgds. Don't really think I can expect them to sleep in a bed strewn with clothes and cases so, can't start packing till Monday and it all has to be done by Wednesday night.
So far I've sorted out my champagne, cameras, the multsocket block chargers (electric not equine) corkscrew and kindle!
Pearls next I think!

Going to Chichester Christmas market tomorrow so hope to get some presents then.

I've put some stuff up in the sitting room. The tree which goes in the dining room probably next weekend.
Food no thought yet as we are at DDs so being a bit lazy about that and most cards written not yet posted.

The present buying is coming along marvellously. Less so the wrapping.
