Well, are you on strike, or more a case of CBA? there are going to be disappointed faces about the lack of roast lamb!

is it the January blues or a CBA sort of day.

Not on strike, but after a few very busy weekends, is it wrong that I am keeping my head down and rather hoping that for once my DS and partner don't text at short notice and ask if there is any dinner going? I cannot actually remember the last time I had a completely free Sunday!

DH is just off to buy a swede - we fancy something that is winter warming, but won't have our dinner until about 6:30.

A swede! - now you really are pushing the boat out!

All the Europeans I know are horrified that we eat swedes, which they regard as cattle food.

TBH I thought it was a bit random when he asked me if I fancied it for dinner ... seems to have been his waking thought after an hour of dozing in front of the telly LOL. He has promised me some chicken too. And yes - I have taken all the thrift suggestions to heart on a recent post and even threatened him with parsnip soup so perhaps he is aiming for a bit of variety .

Swede is nice with a bit of bacon - the taste contrast is good. You will, of course be using the whole-swede-in-the-microwave method followed by many Gransnetters?

Swede is lovely mashed up with carrots and plenty of butter. What do all those other Europeans know? (I'm European too, even if we leave the EU).

I have dinner under way for 5.30 - 2 chickens just gone into the oven, roasties gone in to half-roast and finish at the last minute. Home made stuffing in a bowl, carrots cooked and drizzled with honey in a bowl to warm, cabbage wedges steamed and in a baking tray brushed with butter and scattered with grated cheddar to go back into the oven. Peeled Navan potatoes ready to boil, may or may not mash them.
Two flattish chocolate fudge cakes which I will sandwich together, decorate with strawberries and serve with lemon sorbet.
Coffee and Shortbread.
Enough calories there for about 3 days.

One of our dils only eats chicken breast, no other meat of any sort, and no chicken on a bone. If I do a beef roast, there's a chicken breast also being done in a roast-a-bag.
8 for dinner every Sunday. It is ok, but sometimes I yearn for a sloppy Sunday with dh and me. Dh just loves the Sunday get-togethers and he does help with the dinner and clearing up afterwards.

I just love turnip, all our family love it. Must admit if it's just me and dh I use one of the Mash Direct mashed turnip that I bought and stored in the freezer when they were £1. To be recommended, as is the whole range.

We went out for Sunday lunch as it's dd1's birthday. Now stuffed to the gunwales and semi comatose on sofa. Where's the remote???

We had a takeaway last night and are having the leftovers tonight. No cooking a large meal today.

What is the microwave swede method???

We're just back from DH's cycling club lunch and presentation of trophies. Had a very nice lunch - garlic mushrooms in a filo basket, beef in red wine with green beans and mashed potatoes and fresh fruit salad for dessert. Coffee and brownies. All very nice. DH won two trophies too so a very pleasant time was had! Might have a bit of toast later on.

Steak & ale simmering in the slow cooker, roast potatoes and creamed cabbage / spring greens (yes, bought in, ready prepped) so good compromise between from scratch and cheating! Only Mr P and I, so it will do just fine.

(Tough luck if it doesn't!)

I am in a CBA mood, so for my dinner I am just going to experiment with Tornado Potato in the microwave, cut using my new spiralizer.

Well, I've got a lovely piece of brisket in the slow cooker. Complete with stock, herbs, onions, carrots and, yes, swede. Buttery mash and green veg to sort out later. Who cares what our fellow Europeans think? Some of them are partial to smoked pig's ears. Give me a humble root veg any day.

Is there any mood other than CBA on the subject of cooking dinner? .
DD hasn't come round today for dinner so my normal CBA mood, which applies every other day of the week, has kicked in . I was jolly pleased to find a frozen chicken pie in the freezer. I shall drag myself out there to peel a few spuds and shake some peas into a saucepan soon. Almost, but not quite, as easy as getting a takeaway
