what one thing would you change to make a product perfect?

The trouble is indi when I feel the wind in my hair I know I'm going to look like the wreck of the hesperus shock

I agree about powdered Flash, it was wonderful stuff and seemed to last forever. I also used to love the clean smell of powdered Ajax or Vim - they worked a treat too.

As for hairspray, I'm amazed at how many people on here use it. Can't stand the stuff myself, I like to feel the wind in my hair.

Flash powder was fantastic for getting rid of the smell of vomit (especially in the car ?), nothing works so wel.

This is the one for those who want an unfragranced Elnett, on offer at the moment in Boots: www.boots.com/en/LOreal-Elnett-Unfragranced-Extra-Strength-Hairspray-200ml_867563/

Love the smell!

janeainsworth Thu 03-Mar-16 22:29:57

harrysgran I used to live the smell of Flash when it was a powder. Not seen it for years.
I'm sure it was much more economical than liquids/sprays which is probably why they stopped manufacturing itsad

Can't get the unperfumed Elnett anywhere. Thought they had stopped making it!

I use l'Oreal Elnett hairspray in the white tin as the stuff in the gold tin smells awful. However, nearly every shop has stopped selling the white and has gone over to the gold.

If no one on this thread is using it either, then who are they selling it to?

I am not sure what I would improve about any particular product but I definitely have some grumps about changes that have been made for the worse. I hate that sweets and ice creams now come in plastic wrappers. Half of the pleasure of a Kitkat came from the silver paper and the paper sleeve. As for ice creams in plastic, the product is squashed removing it from the sealed wrapper.

Meat in airtight suction-sealed plastic is almost impossible to extract without risking one's fingers with the knife or scissors employed.

Squeezy jam? My daughter, when young, refused to eat any other kind as it had 'bits' in. But really, what an abomination! Ditto squeezy anything: Marmite, mustard, mayonnaise.

I haven't seen anyone use hairspray since the 1980s, had no idea it was still used! What else have I missed by using only Nivea cream, deodorant and baby shampoo?

harrysgran Thu 03-Mar-16 18:01:11

I would like to go back to powdered toilet cleaner like harpic rather than liquid form which is all I can find on the shelves now.

I must have some part of my olfactory sense missing as I have never noticed the smell of Elnett Hairspray, though I have used it for years. Going upstairs in a mo to experiment.

Marybel Thu 03-Mar-16 15:03:25

I stopped using Elnett a few years ago because of the smell (like stale cigarettes!) and since then have used whatever has been on offer. I recently started using the Aldi one and agree that it's very good at a fraction of the cost of Elnett.

Aepgirl Thu 03-Mar-16 14:21:32

And there I was thinking I was the only one that hates the smell. It may brush out but the smell lingers and gets into clothes.

Auntieflo Thu 03-Mar-16 13:09:18

I like John Freida's Shape and Shine hair spray. It is non aerosol, just pumped, and a container lasts me ages

Dillonsgranma Thu 03-Mar-16 12:01:21

The Elnett with no smell is the supreme hold one........navy blue stripe round top. Its on offer at super drug online :-)

maryEJB Thu 03-Mar-16 11:52:47

Rhanks for the tips re hairspay!

Bluesmum Thu 03-Mar-16 11:02:32

If you like Elnett but hate the smell, try the one that Aldi do! It is just as good brushes out totally,is non sticky and although it does have a slight smell it is not objectionable and definitely does not linger.

townie Thu 03-Mar-16 10:43:12

I hate Elnett smell too - and all highly perfumed beauty products.

But, as a PP said, it's a bit of a non issue, as it's very easy to find the non perfumed variety. It has a green band round and is in most Boots branches. And it is a well priced spray, effective and easily brushed out.

I would take the sting out of shampoo. This morning I must have got some in my eye. I felt like I was stabbed. I'm now nursing a swollen, bloodshot eye. I was about to go and get new passport photos taken, now I can't!

rosesarered Thu 03-Mar-16 10:11:35

Especially the Yankee Candles.

rosesarered Thu 03-Mar-16 10:11:13

True..... But I love them.smile

Nelliemoser Thu 03-Mar-16 10:02:45

My big objection is that you can have.

Perfumed hair spray.
Perfumed deodorant
Perfumed washing powder that keeps pushing out an alarmingly artificial smell everytime you move.
Perfumed moisturiser
Then on top of all that you can have actual perfume.
Then Yankee candles around your house with their artificial perfume and persistant candle wax smell.
All these industrial chemicals, (that's what most perfumes are) in the air cannot do us much good.

nipsmum Thu 03-Mar-16 09:53:23

I found that some of the supermarket's sell a small size of silvikrin in their range of holiday sized products

rosesarered Thu 03-Mar-16 09:51:23

I use Elnett, it's the best hairspray, and there IS a non perfumed one, as I bought two last year. Not on purpose, as I quite like the smell, they were on special offer and I didn't have my reading specs with me.

maryEJB Thu 03-Mar-16 09:36:42

I hate the smell of Elnett hair spray too and prefer silvikrin. But i like to take a small one when i go on holiday and often Elnett is the only small one I can find locally. Have to go to Boots in nearest large town to get a small Silvikrin.
