what one thing would you change to make a product perfect?

janeainsworth Wed 02-Mar-16 15:33:21

Yes, stopped using Elnett because of the smell!

Lona Wed 02-Mar-16 15:35:03

Me too, it's vile!

Lona Wed 02-Mar-16 15:40:21

If my phone and tablet never needed charging, then they'd be perfect!

NannyJanny53 Wed 02-Mar-16 16:22:54

Hi Jane and Lona, it is vile but it is the best hairspray, it just brushes out. Why do manufacturers think adding perfume is a good thing? I can't stand perfumed lipstick either and it's just not necessary.

I`d put Sherbert Fountains back into their original cardboard tubes wrapped in paper. The new tubes sealed in cellophane with a plastic top are practically impossible to open, unless you hve the strength of Samson! And yes, I know it`s very juvenile to like Sherbert Fountains!

I like the smell!

A recent report on pollution highlighted the harm caused by household sprays, perfumed candles etc, all those artificial smells are very harmful when inhaled.
My pet hate is the nappy bags I use for dog poo, they smell awful.
Worst packaging now is the bleach lid. I have to rip it apart before I can use the stuff. Yes, I know bleach is environmentally evil, I only use it occasionally.

I always use Elnett, never noticed the smell.

janeainsworth Wed 02-Mar-16 19:33:36

If you could just peel Pineapples instead of having to dissect them they would be my favourite fruit smile

annodomini Wed 02-Mar-16 19:55:34

The smell of Elnett seems to me to dissipate quite quickly. Their new peoduct, with Argan oil doesn't smell as strongly.

I tried that anno and if anybody would like a large can for free they are welcome to it, I found it made my hair lank and claggy within a very few hours angry

janea I think Lakeland sell a pineapple peeler/corer.

I don't like perfumed deodorants they usually smell quite awful and would be dreadful with any other perfumes you might want to wear.

Quite often you have to go a bit out of your way to get the unperfumed varieties.

I detest these highly Perfumed washing powders as well.
I have had some bad experiences with allergic rhinitis due to using a perfumed shake and vac type carpet product. Then I had years of sneezing, my nose rapidly blocking and then really streaming like a tap. It's OK now but it was very unpleasant.

Isn't it the case though that the active ingredients in a lot of products have an unpleasant odour of their own, so perfume is added as a mask? I always used to know when a previous neighbour had her laundry outside, I could smell it. In many cases it is better not to use the product in the first place. I like a bit of movement in my hair so never use hairspray.

I hate the smell of Elnett hair spray too and prefer silvikrin. But i like to take a small one when i go on holiday and often Elnett is the only small one I can find locally. Have to go to Boots in nearest large town to get a small Silvikrin.

I use Elnett, it's the best hairspray, and there IS a non perfumed one, as I bought two last year. Not on purpose, as I quite like the smell, they were on special offer and I didn't have my reading specs with me.

nipsmum Thu 03-Mar-16 09:53:23

I found that some of the supermarket's sell a small size of silvikrin in their range of holiday sized products

My big objection is that you can have.

Perfumed hair spray.
Perfumed deodorant
Perfumed washing powder that keeps pushing out an alarmingly artificial smell everytime you move.
Perfumed moisturiser
Then on top of all that you can have actual perfume.
Then Yankee candles around your house with their artificial perfume and persistant candle wax smell.
All these industrial chemicals, (that's what most perfumes are) in the air cannot do us much good.

rosesarered Thu 03-Mar-16 10:11:13

True..... But I love them.smile

rosesarered Thu 03-Mar-16 10:11:35

Especially the Yankee Candles.

I would take the sting out of shampoo. This morning I must have got some in my eye. I felt like I was stabbed. I'm now nursing a swollen, bloodshot eye. I was about to go and get new passport photos taken, now I can't!

I hate Elnett smell too - and all highly perfumed beauty products.

But, as a PP said, it's a bit of a non issue, as it's very easy to find the non perfumed variety. It has a green band round and is in most Boots branches. And it is a well priced spray, effective and easily brushed out.

Bluesmum Thu 03-Mar-16 11:02:32

If you like Elnett but hate the smell, try the one that Aldi do! It is just as good brushes out totally,is non sticky and although it does have a slight smell it is not objectionable and definitely does not linger.
