Are you a regular cinema goer? we only go about four times a year these days, but usually enjoy it so should go more.
What did you go and see last?We saw the latest Bond film ( Dh's choice.)

We go occasionally but only when something really attracts us.
Last time we went DH and I took a friend who has not been to a cinema for 35years shock to see Florence Foster Jenkins starring Meryl Strep and Hugh Grant. It was brilliant casting and beautifully done; we both laughed and cried.

We have a Meerkat ticket (got it when we bought the dogs pet insurances) so get one ticket free. Always go about 5pm as it is quiet and empty. Last film was Jason Bourne, The Revenant, Eye in the sky, Dads Army.

I used to love going to the cinema but since moving to France have not been so much. Last film I saw was Suite Francaise, excellent film and a good book too.

Ah, you had the awful smell too, Newquay? We were at our Senior Vue showing of Sing Street recently and it drifted over me three times during the film. Very distracting.

DH was quite indignant when I asked afterwards if it was him grin

I think the last film DH and I saw was a James Bond one.
We got two for one tickets with my then Orange mobile.
We realised why we don't go to the cinema.
It quickly filled up with lots of folks our age and then lots of students who just talked and talked.
We moved seats a couple of times as I just couldn't see.
Then an obese young woman sat at the end of our row and ate noisily all the way through the the film-was fearful we'd need the Fire Brigade to prise her out of her seat at the end.
And just WHO made that awful smell? ?

I haven't been to the cinema recently. The last time it was Lost in Translation. Daughter took me. It was interesting, but strange.
Before that, Superman 1, Blues Brothers and Animal House ( in the '70s,)
All good fun.
But if you count films on the TV we watched Donnie Brasco during the week (recorded). A mafia-type true life story with Johnny Depp and Al Pacino. It was excellent.

The BFG last week with DD and DGD. Loved it smile

ninathenana Fri 19-Aug-16 16:39:02

The last film I saw was Star Trek. I wasn't that impressed.

gillybob Fri 19-Aug-16 16:35:53

The last film I saw was the BFG on Monday evening with the 3DGC. I still fancied Mark Rylance even when he was 12 feet tall with hairy nostrils blush. The children loved it too but for very different reasons

I have been watching films for more years than I care to remember and have fond memories of the cinema in the years after the war when queues would be round the block every night. Seeing as its my specialist subject I thought I would put reviews of films I have loved over the years on paper which I then translated into a website. However, if you go to any film chat site they are inevitably full of jargon previewing the latest teen movie of which there seem to be more churned out by the minute. My thoughts on films I have enjoyed over the years I think will be more to he liking of a more mature audience which is why I a recommending my site Reflections on the Silver Screen. The URL will only be understood by those of certain age - let me know your thoughts on:

grandmaMoira I think there was a poster who said Star Wars ( in the 80's) so you may not be alone in not going to the cinema.I don't like it as much as I used to,
The endless munching and crunching and slurping going on is off putting as is the extreme loudness of the sound quality.I probably only go a few times a year now.

I saw The Eye in the Sky this weekend, Helen Mirren and Alan Rickman. It's a brilliant film, would recommend.

The last film I saw was Waterworld in 1995. Is there anyone else who has not been to the cinema for such a long time?

Eddie the Eagle. Like others, I really enjoyed it. A determined and inspiring man. Oh, and Hugh Jackman!

I saw Eddie the Eagle just last week, and absolutely loved it.
To coin a phrase that the youngsters use these days.....Respect !!!

The Revenant. Captivating from start to finish. The endurance of man is a determined fight for survival!

Or even smile

Maggiemaybe Sun 24-Apr-16 18:51:33

Oh, good, TyneAngel - we're off to see that at our senior screening on Tuesday {smile]

TyneAngel Sun 24-Apr-16 18:42:52

'Spotlight' - brilliant - wanted to stand up and cheer at the end.

NotTooOld Sun 24-Apr-16 17:26:51

David - the buns sound like an excellent idea.

NonnaAnnie - if you haven't been to the cinema for 16 years you really should try it again. I didn't go for several years either but when I started again I was so impressed by the quality of the film making, I thought it was just wonderful - still do, in fact. Give it another go, things have really moved on.
