Are you a regular cinema goer? we only go about four times a year these days, but usually enjoy it so should go more.
What did you go and see last?We saw the latest Bond film ( Dh's choice.)

I hate the cinema, far too loud and crowded for my liking. I just watch film son the TV bit they have to be good to keep my attention.

The last film I saw at the cinema was Snatch 16 years ago at a guess, and I loved it.

Lady in the Van - brilliant!
Mr Turner - equally brilliant!

Sounds good David the constant popcorn and hot dog chomping drives me crazy in the cinema ( buns may be quieter!) smile

Last week DH & I saw "Margeurite" - which is a French film, based on the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the rich American socialite who couldn't sing, but thought she could.... We enjoyed it very much. (You need to be OK with subtitles though.) Coincidentally a USA film called "Florence Foster Jenkins" (starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant) is due out in May. (It's great to see that Meryl (born in 1949) gets to have Hugh (born 1960) as her love interest. A welcome change from the usual way around.) Here in Lancaster we have a great independent cinema called The Dukes. It always offers reductions for the over sixties and at least once a month there's a morning film preceded by free coffee and buns. It's a comfortable and friendly venue with no popcorn, bells, or whistles - oh joy.

Eddie the Eagle - I thoroughly enjoyed it, more than I expected to. It was a feelgood film, just what I needed that day...

The latest Star Wars. Had to see it, as have seen the three original ones about 40 times! My D.S. was, and still is ,a great fan.
I am crocheting him all the Star Wars characters at the moment. He's only 38!

Here in Clacton it's £2.50, except Saturday nights when it's. £3.50, really good value.

I refused to go with family to Hunger Games (saw first and hated it, so no point in wasting money and these days there's no way we can afford for all 4 to go, especially as we go to Imax in Manchester which means family meal, extra fares etc). Son is taking dad and me for birthday treat to see World of Warcraft film, since we're all fans of the game and play every day. Last year I went alone to see Jersey Boys which I loved, but I'm the only 4 Seasons fan, so again no point in family going! When I was younger went virtually every week, but then it was value for money - most films were U certificate and you got 2 for the price of 1. Now we watch films on TV (have Sky films sub) which suits us.

I go with my daughter, the last film we saw was The Boy really creepy film, but excellent, x

Our small local cinema is showing The Jungle Book but not in 3D. Should we go? I quite fancy it but wonder if we should make the effort to see it in 3D.

imacmum Sun 24-Apr-16 10:35:20

Should say film not fail!

imacmum Sun 24-Apr-16 10:34:59

Eye in the Sky, wasn't expecting to laugh at such a fail, but there were laughs and everyone did. Sad because it was Alan Rickmans last film but made you think about the decisions that have to be made at high level and who actually makes them

Freddy & Jason - Nightmare on Elm Street - so long ago can't quite remember when it was. I then won tickets to see 50 shades of Grey - terrible film such an abrupt ending and left disappointed. So glad I did not pay to watch this as I had enjoyed reading the books.

Shelagh6 Sun 24-Apr-16 10:08:03

Try to see many but the Cineworld at Feltham - our local, hardly gets the decent films because they are obsessed with Bollywood and children's films which is quite disappointing as they are an "unlimited' cinema chain and I feel a bit short changed and would have to go an hour away to Aldershot to have a good choice!

I saw the jungle book last week. Great fun!

ajanela Sun 24-Apr-16 09:50:17

Like many people The Lady with a Van. Then I went to see an Alan Bennett play at a packed Salisbury playhouse. For those that don't know, Lady with a Van was written by Alan Bennett and based on the true story of him and the lady who lived in a van in his drive for 15 years. The lady next to me had seen the film 3 times.

I went to see goosbumps with 2 of the grandchildren but it's so expensive

adaunas Sun 24-Apr-16 09:47:05

Lady in the Van, Warhorse and Philomena. I never realised there were senior screenings but am off to investigate.

Zootopia, which was quite funny. We were the only adults unaccompanied by children. There were about 30 people in a 450 seater cinema, which is our cinema of choice. We go there regularly for the pleasure of uninterrupted viewing.

Criminal ☺ great movie

Saw the Eye in the Sky movie last week, with Helen Mirren. It unearthed a lot of questions about terrorism. We usually go once a week, unless there''s nothing particular we want to see.

We also go to the live links to the National Theatre and Royal Opera House events. Wonderful experiences and ones we wouldn't normally be able to see as they would be too expensive and entail a long journey.

If you get a chance to see the new Giselle ballet from the ROH, go, it's absolutely beautiful.

Eye in the Sky last night. Wholly endorse trish 's comments.
Last week was Zootropolis with 7 yr-old GS. Very impressed and we both loved it on 2 very different levels. Prompted lots of discussion.
