Are you a regular cinema goer? we only go about four times a year these days, but usually enjoy it so should go more.
What did you go and see last?We saw the latest Bond film ( Dh's choice.)

Brilliant idea about the earplugs. They are about to open a new seven screen cinema just down the road from where I live (Dalton Park) so shall visit the chemist for a set of ear plugs all ready to enjoy some good films.

The Revenant, Star Wars and Brooklyn. All completely different but all enthralling.

Grannyknot.........Great minds think alike!

GreatauntieLinda, I take earplugs to the cinema, pop them in and the sound levels are just right.
It ruins a film for me when I get a headache within ten minutes due to the sound being so ridiculously loud!
Last film? Bridge of Spies, wonderful!

Grannyknot Fri 18-Mar-16 11:57:41

greatauntielinda - when we saw "Hail, Caesar" there was another couple about our age sitting in front of us, and a handful of people in the cinema altogether.

When the film started, they had a brief exchange and then he got up and left the cinema. I whispered to husband "He's gone to ask them to turn the sound down". And so it was grin. Excepting that when he came back in, he didn't draw the curtain over the door, so there was a sliver of light, and husband got up and closed it properly! Lol.

We then all settled down and enjoyed the film.

I tend to carry ear plugs to the movies and lightly plug my ears, otherwise I have what I call an "audio hangover" - I feel headachy and "off" the whole of the following day.

The last three we've been to see were:

Brooklyn
Spotlight
The Big Short

All of them were excellent.

Humbear Anomalisa has had brilliant reviews. What did you think of it?

grannysyb Fri 18-Mar-16 11:35:56

The Big Short, about sub-prime mortgages in America, I nearly understood what happened by the end! Very good though. Also Bridge of Spies, excellent.

Lona Fri 18-Mar-16 10:41:38

Yes he did anno. I'm very impressed by his acting.

grannylyn65 Fri 18-Mar-16 10:38:27

Alea u always make me grin

annodomini Fri 18-Mar-16 10:35:08

Bridge of Spies. As you say, Lona, it was brilliant. And Mark Rylance well deserved his best supporting Oscar.

Lona Fri 18-Mar-16 10:28:15

Last film was The Good Dinosaur but dgd wasn't very happy so we left early.
I go with a friend, whenever there's a decent film on and the last one was Bridge of Spies. Brilliant!

harrigran Fri 18-Mar-16 10:09:45

I think it was last year that I went to see a film with GD1, can't remember what but probably involved fairies or dragons grin

mustgrumble Fri 18-Mar-16 10:04:11

a preview of Eddie The Eagle. However low your expectations are, it's a lot, lot worse. How some decent actors who presumably don't need the money (unlike Eddie) - Christopher Walken, Hugh Jackman, Keith Allen - were tempted by the lame script, I can't imagine. Perhaps the film as a whole is a metaphor for Eddie's 'career' - how to make money out of rubbish. Was glad I hadn't paid for a ticket.

GreatauntieLinda Fri 18-Mar-16 09:16:51

The latest Star Wars. I hadn't been to the Cinema for over 30 years. The film was in 3D (magic) but I was deaf for three days. Why oh why had it to be so loud? I actually felt the physical impact of the sound.

TerriBull Fri 18-Mar-16 09:01:38

The Revenant

Alea Fri 18-Mar-16 08:47:59

I do worry Nanaandgrampy about these baked projectiles. Do Elfin Safety know about it and have they conducted a proper Risk Assessment? (Especially chocolate biscuits)

Humbertbear Fri 18-Mar-16 08:44:55

Hail Caesar
London has Fallen
Allegiant
Anomalisa

In the last two weeks.

Summer is coming with those blockbusters so won't be going for a while now

Teetime Fri 18-Mar-16 08:42:46

I love going to the cinema but not too many films I want to see. Our last one was the latest James Bond Spectre which was really good. We go to the big multi plex in Leicester - we have a boutique cinema here but DH has trouble with his ears he find the bigger place better if he can sit directly in the middle. We go in the morning when its almost empty then I don't winge on about people kicking me in the back of the seat, rustling sweetie papers, talking during the film in short being an old baggage! Its quite cheap at that time too. There hasn't been anything else I have wanted to see lately. We watch fils on Netflix etc all the time. I recently watched Still Alice and am rewatching Woody Allen films which are wonderful.

NanaandGrampy Fri 18-Mar-16 08:38:09

London has Fallen this week - it was ok - lots of action and the delectable Gerard Butler .

Last week -The Martian - again it was ok , good film , slow in places but interesting.

We've just discovered Senior Movies - £3 a ticket with a cup of tea and chocolate biscuit thrown in smile

ffinnochio Fri 18-Mar-16 08:36:44

The Revenant.

whitewave Fri 18-Mar-16 08:31:22

Can't remember. Keep intending to go then somehow don't.

gettingonabit Fri 18-Mar-16 08:31:11

alimagrin.

It's a film, starring Tom Courteney and Charlotte Rampling.

It had quite good reviews. I wasn't all that impressed, and my friend walked out half way through.

Galen Fri 18-Mar-16 08:23:15

The return of the Jedi

Nana3 Fri 18-Mar-16 08:21:37

Kung Fu Panda 3 with GC aged 9 and 12.
Fell asleep for a good half an hour, fortunately they were still there when I woke up and probably didn't notice. blush
