When I was little we always knew it was spring because the field opposite our house was covered in coltsfoots. We used to pick some and put them in a glass jam jar. These days there seem to be plenty of dandelions and celandines around, but you never seem to see coltsfoots. Have they just abandoned Derbyshire or have they disappeared? Has anyone spotted them anywhere else? We go to North Wales quite frequently and I've not seen any there either. They're so pretty and Spring just isn't the same without them.
