Being mugged off

What are the reasons people do not see/choose to ignore, being mugged off.
I belong to a group[not talking about gransnet at all] and it is obvious that some of them are getting manipulated.
They are gradually being able to see it, but are still buring their heads in the sand.
Why do this?

Oh girls, came to this thread a couple of days late after a beastly week and it has made me laugh; I think it's that clunky phrase 'mugged off' which sounds slightly rude. Thanks, all, I no longer feel quite so mugged off.......but, a passing thought, isn't it interesting that the family/friends who complain you (ie me) are ' over sensitive' never say . 'but stop being so over sensitive to my needs'. Now to reactivate my sense of humour properly.

The behaviour being described by obieone, in my book is manipulative behaviour and a lot of people engage in it and a lot of people fall for it.

It is not pleasant and one always hopes the manipulative one will be seen through. If the person being manipulated is vulnerable then anyone concerened about their welfare should draw it to the attention of an appropriate person. Otherwise if the person concerned is capable of managing their own life and choose to be blind to it there is nothing yopu can do.
