Alea I was thinking of you and your husband as I went to bed. When I awoke, my thoughts remained with you. What a buggeration of a bus journey. You needed the extra hassle like a hole in the head.
Charleyg Poor little Tara. Bully boy cats can be such a nuisance. Rory is very gentle with Bracken (possibly because he's been de-flowered) -- and he's getting on a bit.

Your comment regarding teenage phone calls made me hoot. The youngest, when out with a pal, would invariably phone at some point because..."I've missed the train/bus or lost my fare home". We made more than one trip from Lostwithiel in Cornwall to collect him from the station at Newton Abbot in Devon. On one such occasion, he was clutching a bag with a brand new shirt in it. 
Nelliem I prefer raspberries to strawberries. I shall partake of some of your ice cream.
On Saturday, the villagers will be celebrating the royal birthday with a party in the village hall. Ladies and children will be wearing their home-made hats. I shall show mine when I'm all dolled up.

We saw a dipper in the village burn. It was on a rock. Couldn't get close enough and had no long lens to help.

We have hares living beside us .....Irish hares, which are in decline. This pic was of a female and her pursuers. Quite a lot of 'activity' went on shortly after this photo was taken.

Judthepud2 That is a marvellous image. I can well imagine how popular the female of the species is at this time of year. Ne'er a moments peace!
wot We were lucky enough to choose the right place to move to. We lived in Cornwall for many years. Visited Scotland for two holidays. Decided this was what we wanted. Sold up and moved to the west coast of Kintyre. We knew no-one in the village. Yet, when attempts to buy a wee plot proved very dispiriting and problematical, the residents rallied. The support we received was all we had hoped for and beyond. As incomers, we could have had a tough time. Quite the opposite. Our neighbour (unwell at the moment) sold us part of his garden. We have a view across the water to the islands of the Inner Hebrides. This is where we would like our ashes to be scattered. Not yet though...
the washing cycle ended a long time ago. I've been far too busy blethering and enjoying your company. Off to do something remotely useful. I shall return later this afternoon.
