Suggestions for cheering up grumpy old sods I mean husbands

I love Morris Dancing it always makes me smile a lot!! I have often told DH I would like him to do it - he has the look- bearded ex hippy that kind of thing but he doesn't fancy it. Bowls cheers him up, golf does the opposite. His thing is old Radio 4 comedy programmes - Goons etc etc.

To be quite honest, we are not all of us bright cheery creatures all the time are we?

Mine grumps to an Olympic standard.....I just ignore him and do my own thing. He'll come out of it in his own time.

well, it is for some people [but not all, thankfully.]
My DH always brightens visibly at the mention of steak and chips.

Why bother? If they want to be grumpy and miserable, let them, I have enough trouble keeping myself happy and fit, encourage the o.h. to keep me company, but there are times when it only makes him worse, he probably doesn't feel well, like me sometimes. Depression, is of course another matter, but just being grumpy is life.

Morris dancing is not the answer. I don't find food works either but LACK of food has a definite detrimental effect. A visit from DiL works while she's here but disappears quickly - the effect, that is, not DiL although on second thoughts........

Every year Winchester has a Morris Dancing Festival which lasts all weekend. The whole city is inundated with men women and even small children all dressed up. The sound of bells is deafening, as small and large groups of them 'dance' in the city centre at various times.

I was visiting my DD who lives in London and the train from Scotland stopped at Milton Keynes and there on the platform was a Morris dancer in full dress. First time I've seen one (in the flesh, so to speak) very colourful. I was staring but no one else was batting an eyelash. Must be commonplace.

I'm amazed my DH can spend all day doing something he loves.....fishing but still come home grumpy because he's tired and hungry
