I posted on the other thread before I saw this one. Another Elvis lover here, hate the impersonators.
I don`t want to start anything off, but, although he may well be dead by now, at the time of his "death" in 1977, I found it hard to believe, because he was so bloated and overweight at the end, and yet when they showed his body lying in state, he looked slim and young again.

In the Ghetto - the lyrics are so sad

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 30-Jul-16 23:04:27

Oh yes! Love that one too! Love the smoochy ones.

Hard to pick a favourite song although I love Always on my mind.

Never could stand the fellow, sorry. I remember aged about 10 visiting an aunt and uncle with my parents. My cousin, a year or two older than me, was Elvis crazy and I was forced to spend the entire visit in her room listening to one after another of his records hmm. I told mum and dad I didn't want to go with them next time grin

Ah... Love Me Tender....knees just gone weak.

Jalima Sat 30-Jul-16 20:49:06

I like the early rock stuff best

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 30-Jul-16 20:42:40

Love me Tender has got to be my very favourite though. Sigh!

soop Sat 30-Jul-16 20:41:48

DaphneBroon Sat 30-Jul-16 20:18:31

Why do we need 2 threads on this?

Coolgran65 Sat 30-Jul-16 20:02:25

Love Elvis. The ballads make the hair stand on the back of my neck. However, can't stand Wooden Heart.

merlotgran Sat 30-Jul-16 19:58:09

Heck. I must look more closely at thread titles. I thought it said, Elvis still ski-ing. grin

tanith Sat 30-Jul-16 19:50:16

Me too I'm afaid I can't abide him. Glad both you and OH enjoy him that's nice.

Grannyknot Sat 30-Jul-16 19:42:56

Not me, cherry I Iove Elvis. 'Specially the ballads. I think my favourite is called American Trilogy. smile

soop Sat 30-Jul-16 19:42:06

I am as good as besotted by this man. At the age of 12-ish I heard him singing 'Heartbreak Hotel' and, oh boy, even though I'm almost 75 I still dance to his music. There may continue to be scores of Elvis imitators but...there will never be another Elvis. grin

Greyduster Sat 30-Jul-16 19:41:33

You certainly will! Me, I'm afraid! The late Dowager Duchess of Devonshire was his greatest fan though, apparently! smile. Rock on, cherrytree!

Had a lovely whirl wind of day
Three GS plus families here for youngest GS 1st Birthday.
All have returned home.
So have put feet up
DH has just put some Elvis on.
The music and the words are wonderful. I can picture him singing.
He is more of DH era.
but I think he's great
My DD also thinks so, she used to do rock and roll as part of her dance class.

Just listened to 'True Love' it brings a tear to your eyes.

For me he is still King

I've never met anybody who doesn't like Elvis

Bet I will now!
