carolmary the tonic in any quantity should be fine but the gin a tad iffy because I doubt if you only have one each week.

AlieOxon Sun 07-Aug-16 20:24:28

....anyone know if the GN Three are back yet?

Jalima Sun 07-Aug-16 20:52:32

Last heard of somewhere up the Amazon I think, however, they did have a paddle
so not up the creek without one

GandTea Sun 07-Aug-16 21:00:27

I'M back. The Beach volley ball ladies sent me packing when I started building sand castles on their court.

Jalima Sun 07-Aug-16 21:17:30

You will have to go to the norty corner.

NanKate Sun 07-Aug-16 21:36:42

I'm pleased to say the whole GN team are safe and well, no one in prison, no one arrested for chatting up the local girls (but it was a close thing).

For those four of you in the women's rugby team, well done for for being able to run all over the pitch and only two of you were stretchered off.

The scrabble team are doing well, even though a few of the words used were not allowed by the judges as they contravened Brazilian decency Act hmm

Onward and upward folks smile

I like this silly thread.

Maggiemaybe Sun 07-Aug-16 22:49:56

Good fun, isn't it? Though I notice I haven't had a call up for the swimming medley. I've waxed my cork float and polished the goggles/glasses combo, pumped up the armbands and put the flowery swimming cap through a 30 degree wash. I'm primed, I'm ready. Just waiting for the word from the committee.... sad

annodomini Sun 07-Aug-16 23:52:54

As a late entrant, I would like to offer expertise and training in pelvic floor exercises.

annodomini Mon 08-Aug-16 00:07:05

Huh! I see now that phoenix beat me to it but I claim the gold medal by virtue of many years experience. So there, phoenix!

Maggiemaybe Mon 08-Aug-16 00:11:56

etheltbags1, I notice you're a doggie paddle expert? Perhaps you and I could take on the medley relay? There are normally four participants, so we will each have to swim double the normal distance, and it might take some considerable time. A good coat of lard might be an idea to make sure we don't succumb to hypothermia - I'll try not to get any on my goggles or glasses, or who knows where I'll end up.

annodomini, us watersports competitors don't have to worry too much about our pelvic floors.

NanKate Mon 08-Aug-16 07:00:13

Yes Maggie the call has come. You are required to represent GN, get the lard out, start lathering up and the world is your Oyster, we have great expectations of you.

I am quietly confident we may get a medal in the Yo Yo Finals smile

GandTea Mon 08-Aug-16 07:19:39

The snoring syncro pairs couple did better than anyone expected, they got a silver. Unfortunately they missed the medal ceremony as their trainer forgot to set their alarm clock.
Looking forward to the fours event, they have decided to try a new formation 2 x 2 top and tail, could be exciting.
The 7's team are still trying to find a large enough bed.

kittylester Mon 08-Aug-16 07:22:38

Please can I do a trial for the staying awake team. I managed 4 am last night but I can try harder tonight.

Is there an event for husbands who are able to say the mwist stupid things to a very tired wife? If so, can dh be captain as he is excelling this morning.

GandTea Mon 08-Aug-16 07:27:51

Kitty if you can stay awake for the next 16 hours, you could be just ready for the syncro snoring 4's, we have a "A" team but a "B" team would give us a strong chance of a gold.

Maggiemaybe Mon 08-Aug-16 07:43:43

Hurrah! I'm out of lard, so I'll nip to the Coop after dinner. They might just have a jar or two of goose fat left over from Christmas.

GandTea Mon 08-Aug-16 07:50:58

Maggie, if you get stuck, I have a gallon tin of car axle grease in my garage.

Maggiemaybe Mon 08-Aug-16 08:04:54

Well, I wouldn't be stuck with axle grease, apparently. DH tells me it frees seized up parts, eliminates clunking and squeaking, lubricates your bearings. It sounds to be just the job, GandTea. Could you wheel it round to the pool please (shallow end).

LullyDully Mon 08-Aug-16 08:12:27

I think the goose and duck fat goes liquid in the Rio heat and could cause a nasty Ali k across the harbour. So axle grease should do. Any gold medals.yet? Must be due some as not all countries are.entering some of the events..

LullyDully Mon 08-Aug-16 08:19:06

Slick

Jayh Mon 08-Aug-16 08:29:40

Reading this thread is excellent training for the bladder control triathlon laughing event. I am also training hard for the sneezing and queuing for the loo events and I think I am in with a chance of medalling. Oh, er, must go. I think I may have medalled already. ?

kittylester Mon 08-Aug-16 08:36:33

Don't count on me GandTea for the snoring event. I might peak this afternoon.

Tizliz Mon 08-Aug-16 09:48:36

I am surprised we don't have a team in the couch potato event. I had intended getting some practise in yesterday but due to the uninteresting events showing on TV I gave up. There were no gransnetters on at all.

Cycling team, road events
Mick

GandTea Mon 08-Aug-16 10:31:12

Michael. I don't think you've got the hang of this thread -- cycling is a real sport.!
