I'm still groping around in the mixed breast stroke. Still unsure of which lane I should be in, so I have tried them all.

Pittcity Mon 15-Aug-16 21:16:08

Will any of our number own up to being the ice cream man with all the cyclists following. I think they call him Kierin?

Maggiemaybe Mon 15-Aug-16 21:33:51

I don't know who he is, Pittcity, but his customer service is sadly lacking. I was really looking forward to my double sugar cone lemon top with flake, sherbert, sprinkles and slart today, but he just rode off in a cloud of dust when I gave him my order. I made sure I spoke Very Loudly And Slowly as well, assuming he wasn't English. My centavos went flying and I got shouted at by some passing cyclists when I got on my hands and knees to pick them up. People are just so rude.

GandTea Mon 15-Aug-16 21:50:09

Better than some of the smelly Derny bikes they have used before

MaggieMay60 Mon 15-Aug-16 22:10:49

I am entering the where did I put the blooming key event. if todays efforts are anything to go by I should bring us home a medal! Do we get extra biscuits for the time taken or can it be a team event?

Charleygirl Mon 15-Aug-16 22:28:26

I need to bring up this subject urgently as we have to decide if we are going to be in the Para Olympics. If we were not suitable before, I think the majority of us now are after the the amount of time and effort we have put in,

The sponsors are fine about it provided that some people cut down on alcoholic bevereges (sp)- listening GandTea? It should not be substituted for a cool non alcoholic drink like Fanta. The bill for alcohol has been in the many thousands and that was week 1.

Please let me know if you wish to be considered or if you need an ambulance type plane home with full medical cover.

Jalima Mon 15-Aug-16 22:57:29

provided that some people cut down on alcoholic bevereges
What, after all my efforts floundering around and swallowing that green water in the swimming pool? shock
I even dived down and came up with a gold medal someone must have lost (probably that Phelpsie, he has so many he won't miss one).

I need a private plane home with a bottle of nicely chilled champagne please.

Maggiemaybe lol
I just don't understand Kierin at all and wouldn't trust any icecreams from him even if he gave them away.

Yes, count me in for tne paras. I've been practising for the 'Get In and Out of the Bath No-Handed' event.

GandTea Tue 16-Aug-16 07:44:06

NO ALCOHOL shock Time for a boycott until the organisers see sense.

NanKate Tue 16-Aug-16 08:13:41

Yes I am up for the Para Olympics especially as I am only just surviving the invasion of the GSs for a week. I am one of the walking wounded, limp, limp.

Charleygirl Tue 16-Aug-16 08:27:41

NanKate sounds as though you will qualify. Any particular sport in which you are interested? It does sound to me as though you should be resting and not overdoing it again.

I was practising again last night for the sleeping contest and would definitely win hands down if my cat Tara did not decide that 7 hours with one trip to the loo was sufficient.

GandTea it is not a case of "no alcohol" you really must cut down. You know that Mrs.P does not like you permanently inebriated. I have her permission to do whatever is necessary and if it means sending you on a plane home, so be it.

NanKate Tue 16-Aug-16 09:12:42

Yes Charleygirl my sport will be writing the concluding GN poem of farewell.

GandTea Tue 16-Aug-16 10:05:58

Business class flight please, plenty of free booze.

trisher Tue 16-Aug-16 10:38:32

Does the bottle of brandy in my handbag count in the alcohol ban? My gran told me I should always have one "For mediseenal purposes".

Charleygirl Tue 16-Aug-16 10:53:44

trisher no that is perfectly okay- medicinal purposes, at our age, have to be catered for and it is very sensible to carry a small bottle in your handbag. Be careful at the airport or they may think that you are an alcoholic.

Charleygirl Tue 16-Aug-16 14:38:16

GandTea I have been informed of a cancellation so there is a first class seat if you are interested. I am afraid that Mrs. P will be travelling cattle class and via a different airline as she was not a competitor. The food should be better as well as more alcohol. There will be the usual limo to meet you at the airport to take you home as you did so well, apart from the mixed breast stroke.

GandTea Tue 16-Aug-16 14:47:04

I'm not leaving MrsP to cattle class. I now realise that my alcohol is also medicinal, rubbing alcohol. I do have to taste a little just to ensure it is the genuine stuff (can't trust theses foreign parts.

Wheniwasyourage Tue 16-Aug-16 18:26:50

Is it too late for me to enter the "What a good idea but why can't I think of anything funny?" event? I've had lots of practice over the years on GN and think I could add to the medal tally. (Would have tried the "Swimming slowly while putting in a lot of effort so as to con spectators that I'm swimming fast" but am a bit worried about checking the pool as my Geiger counter got lost among the mutant buttercups in the garden. I knew there was something wrong with them as they grow so much faster than everything else, but they ate the Geiger counter before I could prove it was DH's axle grease that caused it.)

trisher Tue 16-Aug-16 18:48:05

My bottle is handbag size! (but it's a bl***y big handbag)

GandTea Tue 16-Aug-16 18:51:21

WIWYA It is never too late to enter the day after yesterday race as it has been delayed until the day before tomorrow. All entries must be made by the day after tomorrow in time for the day before race.

NanKate Tue 16-Aug-16 21:32:23

Couldn't have explained it clearer myself GandTea

I think I should win a triple gold medal for being the bl** dy mediator, soother, sorter out, calmer down in my family. I have vowed regularly to step back and let them all sort it out themselves, but it never works out like that. hmm rant over.

You lot of great GN Olympians have given me a good diversion in the last week or so. Even though I have had to fork out rather a lot of dosh to get you out of the many scrapes you have found yourselves in it has been worth it.

GandTea Tue 16-Aug-16 22:04:18

NanKate, so please that you understood, not everyone understands the quantum physics behind the day before tomorrow worm hole in the space time continuum. This (as you know of course) can only occur when the day after yesterday coincides with the day before tomorrow. (and there is an "R" in the month, but that is obvious)

Must go, there are two nice men in white coats at the door who want me to go with them.

Tizliz Tue 16-Aug-16 22:40:14

I had forgotten we are in Augurst

Jalima Wed 17-Aug-16 10:05:33

GandTea my DM always taught me that 'tomorrow never comes' and she was a quantum physicist before the title was invented.
So I understand the theory perfectly grin

Charleygirl Wed 17-Aug-16 10:09:25

It is all beyond my pea brain I will have a cup of coffee and a lie down methinks. That solves most problems.
