Soop's Friendly Kitcheners and pets...

This is one lazy dog. I was outside playing with the other dog and came in to see why Anlon hadn't come out. He was sound asleep and was not going to be disturbed. Wish he would sleep this well at nights, last night he pushed his toy box round the kitchen! As we have a bungalow our bedroom is next to the kitchen and the noise travelled through the floor.

I did say a few weeks ago that slowly Bracken would move indoors and she has discovered that a bed is much more comfortable than damp ground under a bush or even her cat house outside. She will eventually realise that MacSorran will not harm her- I do wish that he would give some leeway to that young girl. I am really surprised that Rory has allowed her to jump on the bed. Tara would have her out faster than she ventured indoors.

When I was working (about 18 years ago) and my other cat was here, I came home one January evening from work to find my cat under the dining room table, another close by and two more very comfortable in separate bedrooms upstairs. I only recognised one- it must have been the very cold weather that enticed them indoors because the heating would have been on low for my arrival. The one on my bed would have preferred to stay, no chance. They all left with some assistance from me.

Charleyg Noted!
By the way...MacSporran had his wee nap yesterday afternoon. Awoke and discovered Bracken curled up and snoozing on the bed. Rory was lying outside the bedroom. The back door was ajar. Can you beleeeeeeeeeve it? When she saw MacS she scarpered. Rory looked on with a bemused expression.

soop all the more reason to take note of that 4 letter word called rest. Luckily MacSporran was around.

I hope that you have a reasonable drive on Tuesday, at least it is still supposedly summer and you will not be travelling with ice and snow on the road. Another day when that poor cat will be neglected. Still, think of the greeting when you arrive home! He really does love his home and two servants on hand.

The life of a lot of us at present appears to be revolving around hospitals, either as outpatients or inpatients. I have certainly had my money's worth of the NHS and hope that I will not have pegged it before I use up the last penny in the coffers before it is privatised fully.

Good afternoon to you lovely lot. The rain has stopped but it isn't a day for walkies.

annsixty NanaandGrampy is right. Sod the posies...what you need is a humungous group (((hug))) and home-baked .
Also, what Charleyg suggests regarding a wee drop of alcohol - after my hip replacement, I was told that a single drink might be beneficial. It certainly didn't do me any harm. Ask your GP to be certain.
Seriously, I'm also sorry to hear that you are down in the dumps. If you need to weep then go ahead. Tears are a safety valve. You have family with you right now? Please confide in someone who can take over and "manage" your husband's down-turn. It is imperative that you take care of yourself. You need to convalesce. Otherwise, you will wear yourself out with worry.

Bellanonna..."I love my gaga"...how precious is that statement.

cornergran I imagine that you were more surprised than the cat. It's a good thing that you have a strong constitution. I would probably wet my Sloggis.
I like the word "tootle"...

NanaandGrampy Your card making skills are enviable. You are blest with a gift that gives pleasure to all recipients of your handiwork.

PRINTMISS Your trek home in the rain (with a poorly husband) sounds like a nightmare. A taxi is called for on such occasions. Had the weather been fine you could have taken your time. It was a horrid day here too.

Tizliz Having a hospital close by is a huge bonus. MacSporran would agree. His Tuesday appointment in Oban is a mere two and half hour drive both ways. The road goes through beautiful scenery. It is also devilishly tortuous. I drove on one occasion and it was frightening. Thankfully, MacS enjoys driving.

I was given painkillers when I left hospital. I didn't need them until mid-evening, yesterday. I was wiping the work surface in the kitchen, when a sudden, agonising cramp in my groin, stopped me dead. I couldn't straighten up. MacS helped me to my chair (eventually) and slowly but surely the pain faded away. I was told that any interference in the back passage (as took place during the procedure) can result in such a reaction. Boy,oh boy!

So sorry that you are feeling low today*annsixty *. Hope that you are still getting lots of help at home?
It's so much easier to get around when you have the use of a car that I think most of us dread the day when we can't drive any more for whatever reason. Sorry to hear about your DH's ill health PRINTMISS. Hope he will be feeling much better soon.

Print I feel so sorry for both of you- so difficult when one has difficulty walking short distances. Lucky that you had the seat at the entrance. I sit on people's walls but most are inconsiderate enough to grow hedges.

ann are you taking the trugs after food? So sorry that there is a problem with DH and I hope that the family can rally round.

Swelling will be there for a few weeks so I think that you have done the best thing by ordering the gel pack.

I am aware that one should not take alcohol with painkillers but I would to help me get a decent night's sleep. One glass would just be for medicinal purposes, it is not as though you are quaffing the entire bottle.

NanaandGrampy I hope that you will be suitably impressed with the "big" shoes being bought today. Cooper is going to be a bit lonely when his big brother starts school.

Daphne I hope that you had a decent night's sleep as did DH. I need not ask about Grace!

soop I hope that you are resting and do not intend doing the ironing for your friend next week.

Yes NanaandGrampy DH hastaken them to V. It is tipping down and blowing a gale, personally I would rather stay at home. Apparently, we shall receive a phone call late this evening to bring them back. They have gone with plenty of food to eat, but no flasks allowed. They had to explain to DH that a flask might be mistaken for holding alcohol rather than coffee . Tomorrow we shall repeat it but the weather is supposed to be better.

On how I would enjoy the wine or a G&T but the co-codamil precludes it.

Sod flowers Ann sending ?????????? say when

I'm glad though that you getting by , hopefully your gel pack will help your knee.

Print your poor husband... And poor you. Getting drenched can get you cold to the bones . Hope your both feeling better today .

Sending you lots of hugs and good wishes, Ann

and heartfelt {{hugs}} annsixty. No one can feel your pain but you, but we can imagine and come close. I just hope these are issues you can share with the family and that they can take their share of the burden.
Truly thinking of you x

Thankyou all who have kindly remembered me and asked how I am.
I think I am making decent progress. I am trying to cut down on painkillers as I have been having stomach cramps but will have to weigh up pros and cons as I didn't have a good night.
I still have swelling and have ordered a freezer gel pack which should come today. I get about the house OK with elbow crutches
However H has taken a big down turn and that is a huge problem. No more to say about that. I have had my first weep this morning and need to keep it at bay.

Yesterday, I had a visit to the doctor (nothing serious) had to get a taxi and then decided to take the return journey via Sainsburys for some weekend shopping. The other half has not been well, and because he can't drive at the moment is very "down", but decided that we would not get a taxi from Sainsburys home, but he would try to walk - something he has been unwilling to do for some time now. I did not want to discourage him, but felt it was too far, however, off we set, new shopping trolley nicely balanced not too full, and halfway home, the heavens opened! It is not far, I can walk it briskly in about 10 minutes, but my goodness we were truly wet. My dearest was really unwell toward the end and fortunately we have a seat at the entrance to our estate (a very grand word for our mobile home site!), and he sat there - the rain had stopped and I found an old bag for him to sit on for 10 minutes or so - or course we live the farthest distance from the entrance! He slept all afternoon (and all night).

Tizliz I love a bit of card making and crafting is definitely my retirement hobby . Hope you're feeling a bit better after your quiet day today !

Quiet-ish day here too although I have to tackle the ironing this morning and have a tidy round. Cannot let the place fall back to previous homeliness mess

Then I am cutting some test designs for a designer which is always fun. Have added a couple of pictures of 2 I did for her yesterday.

Have a lovely , lazy, Saturday all !!

I wish I was artistic and could make cards, the shop bought ones are so soulless and special ones so expensive.

We have been decorating this week, which is convenient as the car needs a new exhaust and it has to be ordered from Sweden (Volvo). The rain has just reached us, has been nice all week which has meant the dogs have stayed outside and no tails have been in the paint. New curtains (Dunelm) are up and look good. We have visitors next week and hopefully after they have gone the last bedroom (ours) will get done before the next lot of visitors- then the B&B closed sign will go up ?

I got my appt with the consultant, on my birthday, almost exactly the 8 months the dr said it would be. But I won't have the map reading or parking problems others are having as it is at our local cottage hospital. All the cleaning up has made me bad so a quiet day tomorrow.

Evening all!

Good grief Charley that sounds like quite a trek !! You're definitely organised !!

Are they off to 'V' Milly ? We live near and will be avoiding all routes as it's always a complete gridlock.

Corner the 'nurse' is relieved that the boys are well. Whatever it was all 7 children who had attended a soft play together the previous day had caught it. I couldn't find anything really outlandish for my party although I did spot a wetsuit with a wonder woman costume printed on. You would have to see me to know what a ghastly picture that would have made

Oldgoat great idea for puppy socialisation. We were at the vets too today with Sam, just vaccinations but he enjoys all the fuss . I think he got a treat from everyone he said hello to!

soop you're most welcome. I'm a big fan of post ( not bills ) I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better with the knowledge of treatment to come.

Big event of the day is young Jackson has gone with mum and dad to buy his first pair of big school shoes ready for September. He's calling in on the way home to show them off

I didn't do a thing - honest! There I was moving pots around in the garden to accommodate today's (far too many) purchases. Reaching across to get one against our neighbour's garden there was a scrambling and a crash almost on my head, scared me witless. It was a cat that seemed to have fallen out if a thick and tall bush planted against the fence. It sat there, shook it's head and then the rest of itself, spotted me, hissed and spat then glared at me before stalking off. Left me feeling I was definitely wrong over something. Obviously a cat of character .

Pleased your husband got his treatment daphne, one worry over. I'm sort of with you, galen, although the tiny ones are cute they are more interesting when the character develops. Won't be long happening if our most recent one is anything to go by. Good news that things 'below' have settled after the rootle soop, (iPad want to change it to tootle! ). Good luck to McSporran forTuesday, getting in early in case I forget . It's more than likely, the memory works when it cares to at the moment.

Oh Bellanonna I know that feeling. It's so lovely to do,these things but energy just isn't that of a child. Our older ones smile at me and tell me it's ok they know I can't keep up. Kind but I wish I could and do my best to .

Time for tea now, still some cake left so no hardship. Take care everyone.

Soop, I`m glad you`re now feeling more like your chipper self.
DaphneB, I hope that you`re now home and comfy after your traipsing.
Annsixty, how are you nowadays, getting better, I hope?
My thoughts are with all who are not feeling as great as they should.
Galen, the little fella will soon start to develop a personality all his own, has he a name yet, or have I missed the announcement?

soop and ann. Glad you are both at home and recovering. ann I hope all is still well. I've just come back from being away. DH at home, being "supervised" by DD1, while I was away with DD2 for 4 days in a house high above the sea with DGDs 2 and 4. I'm exhausted, unused as I am to such an early wake-up call and then full-on jollity. But they are so sweet and the little one kept saying "I love my Gaga". Irresistible. We came home on the first day of rain. So very lucky.

DaphneB Good! I'm very pleased that you've updated us lot. Your husband will be feeling so much better. When he feels well...then you will too. Take it easy tonight. Give yourself a well deserved rest from life's niggles.
As for that red button/blue button business, I get a wee bit fraught when I'm watching something that I'm enjoying, and then, all of a sudden-like I'm expected to change the channel.
Of all the events, I've most enjoyed the gymnastics and diving. How about you?

It's time to log off. Two cats require nourishment. The greyness is slowly but surely lifting. We certainly won't be treated to a spectacular sunset - but there's so much to be thankful for.

MacSporran has his appointment with the consultant in Oban on Tuesday. After which...fish, chips and mushy peas. Something special to look forward to.

I sincerely hope you are more comfortable by now soop, I haven't had to suffer much "rootling around" but am sure it has to be unsettling and make you feel a bit fragile. Charleygirl I can't believe how dreadful your journey to and from hospital is! I always imagine we have a hard time of it out here in the sticks, and were I to need to,get a bus to MKH it probably would be at least 2 buses and probably an hour, but now that DH has his blue parking badge, life is much easier (as there is NEVER any regular parking anywhere near(
I am glad to say he had his iron yesterday (just 11/2 hours) and 2 units of blood today (5 1/2 hours) and I picked him up at 2.30. Had coffee at Carlucios and shared a cake with a good friend and am feeling quite human again.
Why is it whenever I watch the Olympics it seems to be kick-boxing (tae Kwan-do)?? What is the purpose of the red button?

Charleyg Bleeding stopped. Thank you. I am feeling so much more positive after the "rootle"...and having met the man who will repair both back and front quarters, I'm convinced that there will be a satisfactory outcome. Patience is the key.

Hoping to hear from DaphneB before too long.

Daphne I hope that DH was treated today. I am assuming that he will be kept in overnight. Hopefully with the blood transfusion he may feel a tad stronger.

Grace no doubt is helping by keeping out of the way and sleeping her way through the day.

I hope that you get a decent night's sleep.

soop with luck the bleeding has stopped and that you are still resting. I am aware that you will have to fight for a chair with Rory, but he does need his rest, like Grace does.
