Rohan clothing

My OH likes to wear them but finds their trousers are cut for a young figure (no belly or bum, in essence). I think you need to have a straight figure for Rohan but do not really know about the range of trousers for women. The quality is superb.

They do really nice skirts, tops and even a dress as well. Very little choice, but they are designed for the serious traveller who is looking for substance over style My DH likes the trousers which convert into shorts-very useful item of clothing. You do get what you pay for and DH has Rohan's which are 10/12 years old. He also has their Icelandic trousers for very cold weather (fully fleece lined) as he suffers from PVD plus his cardiac meds make him feel the cold.

I want them for a forthcoming trip, not necessarily to travel in on the flights but more day to day wear.

DH tried on lots of their trousers but they just didn't seem to fit. Very expensive too. We ended up at Trespass where he bought 3 pairs for the same price. Ideal for travel and washed well. We'd previously thought Rohan would be best but we 'ken noo'! Shop around.

I love my Rohan stuff Riverwalk and it dried very quickly when you wash it.
I wouldn't buy the trousers online though as the fit varies a lot. The ones I have fit me very well but some I tried on in the shop were very uncomfortable.

We've used Rohan for over 30 years, and some of my original Bags are still going, although starting to look their age. Now they don't make them for women any more, but I can use men's ones (prefer to try them on in the shop though). I love Bags for the pockets and don't care if I don't look elegant when carrying a purse, a passport, train tickets, a hankie, emergency toilet paper, a phone, keys and sometimes a map, all safely zipped away.

Some of their other trousers are also good, although not so well endowed with pockets - again, men's styles are often better than women's, I find. DH prefers non-Bags ones, and wears them even when we're not on holiday.

Their blouses and shirts are very quick-drying, and the men's ones and some of the women's ones have useful pockets for a bus ticket. The newer ones are said to have UV protection, and I have one which is said to prevent insect bites - probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd realised it has to be washed separately because of that, although I do wash by hand when we're away, so it's not a major problem.

No I won't buy online Jane will go into one of their stores - being a 5'2" apple I need to try on trousers!

Today I'm wearing some 'MountainLite’ trousers that zip off above the knee if you want to wear shorts. They are easy to wash and dry and a lot cheaper than Rohans. They fit comfortably and have lots of pockets, both zipped and ordinary.

MrBags is keen on Rohans.

I have a pair of walking trousers from mountain warehouse which are very good. A light tough fabric which dries very quickly. Well it did when I pulled my leg out of a stinking scottish bog. The smelly bottoms had dried off before I got back to the bus. I did wash just the bottoms of the legs and they were dry by morning.

Those zip offs are useless if you are like me, a short arse. The zip off parts are never in the right place.

I don't use mine for actual hillwalking because, yes, the zip isn't comfortable if you're walking uphill. They are good for gardening though. I get very mucky so easy wash tough trousers are a boon.

I need to get DH some really warm, comfortable, trousers for when he goes out flying his model aeroplanes in the depth of winter. I bought a couple of pairs of Craghoppers last winter, but I'm wondering if the Rohan Winter Bags would be warmer.

Jings Rohan do some sort of leggings (longjohns) to go under trousers.

Hmm. Not sure he'd go for those Riverwalk. He will never admit to feeling the cold. thanks though.

I will get the Rohan winter ones, and not tell him they are winter trousers.

Speaking of trousers. I'm 5`3" tall so most trousers are much too long. I found some described as extra, extra short and they came to below my ankles. Hoping they will shrink in the wash.

What are Rohan trousers? I have never heard of them!

In the days when we spent all our spare time walking in the countryside we had Rohan trousers which came just below the knee. Then long socks up to meet them.
I've still got a Rohan jacket , showerproof, which I wear occasionally. Had to replace the zip eventually. Very good quality clothes.

Right, as I'm assured they'll last me yonks I'm back from Rohan having bought three pairs! Different colours and styles.

Still wearing Rohan convertible trousers over 35 years old. The 'bottom' bit is wearing a bit thin but zips and stitching all in good condition and these have been worn HARD and travelled all over the world many times. I only ever travel with Rohan clothing. All washed overnight and dry next morning. They have been washed on rocks in mountain streams and had a really hard life. Yes, expensive initially, but they outlast other makes in my experience. they also now do quite smart Capri trousers that would not look out of place for city wear.

By the way I did complain about some t shirts once and they were replaced without question or quibble

Rohan are good value if you can pick up your size in their sale. If you wait till the sale is just about to end if they have your size you can pick up some good bargains
I am 5ft 6in and weigh 9 stone. Size 10 fits me perfectly
