You've so got to laugh, I know people want to do something different, but crikey, this is a bit outlandish.

hmm

granjura Mon 17-Oct-16 16:31:08

and not safe at all either, unless parents watch them every second.

(honestly? Stupid!)

Elrel Mon 17-Oct-16 17:27:04

How many in the group? Strange choice for a 9th birthday!

NotTooOld Mon 17-Oct-16 18:43:36

We had a hot tub once and I think the instructions warned against young(ish?) children being allowed in, something to do with the water temperature?

harrigran Mon 17-Oct-16 18:46:14

Not safe, all hot tubs I have seen had instructions saying "no children under twelve".

aggie Mon 17-Oct-16 19:22:03

sounds like recipe for disaster !

NfkDumpling Mon 17-Oct-16 19:39:21

Scary idea - you could easily loose a boy or two in the bubbles. Plus all the hot tubs I've been near have a lower age limit of 12 or even 14.

My gd went to one when she was living with us and 8 years old. Seemed fine and no problems

Charleygirl Mon 17-Oct-16 22:17:39

Barmyoldbat definitely not safe for a group of boys larking about. A recipe for disaster as aggie said.

Young boys are not how they used to be. They have smart phones, ipads etc and they know about sex.

If they want a hot tub party shock then blame the previous generation who introduced them to it.

There is no need to "halo" the past. This is how it is. Tiny kids who are OK with hot tubs...were brought up by us confused.

My granddaughters have been to hot tub birthday parties (they are 7 and 10) and enjoyed them so much my daughter bought an inflatable hot tub for the garden! When they have friends over either myself or my daughter stay in the gazebo with the children and the other does the drinks/snacks etc so they are not unsupervised. They have a great time.

Out next door neighbours have one of these horrors and I don't think their teenage boys should have been allowed in it either from what we could hear over the fence grinwink

NfkDumpling Tue 18-Oct-16 09:32:49

At least they won't be able to use iPads/phones/Xboxes. Perhaps that's why they enjoy them!

Next door to me had one of these a couple of weeks ago for a 2 year old! I saw all the preparation but luckily for me I went away on the morning of the party. My neighbour on the other side raised her eyebrows when I asked her about it. These are in a Housing Trust house.

I wouldn't trust 9 year old boys not to pee in a hot tub.

foxie Tue 18-Oct-16 10:41:01

Rather inappropriate and not particularly safe either

Blinko Tue 18-Oct-16 10:57:46

Boys seem to be the problem, not hot tubs grin Same old, same old...

glammanana Tue 18-Oct-16 11:18:41

Why can't they hire a football hall and get rid of their energy there ? imo its just an excuse to keep up with the Jones's.

Legs55 Tue 18-Oct-16 11:32:30

OMG can't think of anything worse - mind you I don't see the point of "Hot Tubs" confused

gettingonabit Tue 18-Oct-16 11:37:21

Why the fuss? Why inappropriate?

I'd dive in there myself, given the opportunitygrin.

I love a hot tub, me..

If you visit the British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Associations website there is lots of guidance on there.www.bishta.co.uk

Would you get in someone else's bath water? Bacteria levels would scare me.

NfkDumpling Tue 18-Oct-16 13:28:45

Interesting link Sallie. No children under four should use them, and the big one - NEVER put your head under the water as you could loose consciousness! Try telling a boy not to put his head in if he's with his mates!
