I tend to be a 'door opener' on Halloween as I love seeing all the little ones dressed up and they go to such a lot of bother. Plus, I hope being welcomed will add to their childhood memories. However, more and more, children aged around 12/14 are appearing and, since the 'treats' I give are definitely targeted at younger children, they tend to turn their noses up.
A friend told me that she gives the older children some money. She worries that the older children will come back and do something to her house.
I'm now wondering if I should stop opening my door to trick or treaters. Has it become normal practice to give money?
